I can assume that I am one of many that hadn't heard of Kimya Dawson until Juno, and "Remember That I Love You" features most of the songs she contributed to the soundtrack. I expected that these songs would all be the standouts, and though Loose Lips is possibly still the best song on the album with a catchy-as-hell chorus and cheery tune, the whole album is strong start to finish.
I'm usually one to go for punk, hardcore, metal and the like, but the fact that this is acoustic and more pop than the Moldy Peaches wasn't a factor - I enjoyed especially "My Mom", "Underground" and "I Like Giants", as well as Tire Swing, Loose Lips and the full version of My Rollercoaster, which even features a little Metallica reference.

God this woman can sing...she has one of the most beautiful voices in music today and unlike some other singers (Feist, Jenny Lewis) she actually has the ability to project real pain, sorrow, hope, emotion through her voice.
Chan Marshall is not a blues singer but boy can she sing the blues.
Even though this is an album primarily of covers it feels like a Cat Power album though and through.
Rambling Woman, Silver Stallion and Blue are all stone cold classic covers. They all sound completely different in style and mood but are all memorable.
I listen to this album every couple of days because it puts me in a good space.
I have to say a word about the band that she uses on this album. ... Read More:

I picked this CD because my local independent CD store owner suggested it to me. This is how I choose most of my music and I am rarely dissapointed, however I also rarely fall so completely in love with a band as I have with Vampire Weekend.
Having never heard one of their songs I put the record into my stereo expecting some sort of Emo-garage band sound to come out, heavy on the guitars and depressing lyrics (with a name like Vampire Weekend do you blame me?) and light on the melody. Imagine my joy when a melodic sound is emitted from my poor kia's admittably questionably speakers.
It isn't hard to tell that someone in that band studied composition seriously. And the pure variety in the instruments used, for someone like ... Read More:

Kate Nash is -also- British. She sounds like a combination of Lily Allen, Regina Spektor, and a soft-pop songstress e.g. Catherine Feeny but with a cute accent. The album starts out easy pop, goes harder, goes back down to something gentle. More than anything, her songs are FUN and CATCHY. This is a perfect summer album.
Foundations is a perfect kick-off of the album, and Mouthwash is brilliant; it puts a smile on my face every single time. Kate's biggest talent is her ability to meld clever, catchy lyrics (listeners actually take notice of her lyrics, something that may be rare in today's pop music) with her unique, adorable voice. This is one of the few albums I can remember (with the exception of Lily Allen) in which I'll be listening to ... Read More:

You will become addicted to this soundtrack. It actually surpasses the movie in that respect (although the movie is great too). I'm ready to start searching the cable channels or Netflix looking for these old Satyajit Ray movies.

The one song that many will be familiar with now is the one from Juno. ANYONE ELSE BUT YOU, I think it's called. The female half of the Peaches is Kimya Dawson, and she now does alot more solo work, that is in more of the realm of this one song. But I was first introduced to The Moldy Peaches via a song called WHO'S GOT THE CRACK. The song is pretty ridiculous. The lyrics are juvenile, and possibly somewhat offensive to some. Whooo-oooo-ooo's got the CRACK!?
Alot more of this CD follows suit with this song. Juvenile, pointless, offensive... but something about the drawl and mundane characteristics of the two members seems to work. It's very alterna-folk, with a couple of garage punk moments. Kimya Dawson has that flat, unemotional tone to her voice. ... Read More:

I bought this cd after falling in love with the movie (obviously) and it is fantastic. I love the calming music and the poetic lyrics. I even play it for my four month old baby when he needs to relax- works like a charm.

i thought it'd be the normal legal page size but its more close to a pocket book of the Juno script. But its got the entire script and a quick bio on Diablo. Good source for seeing the film on the page.

Strange headline, eh? Well, though my favorite artists are Springsteen, The Kinks, and The Rainmakers, I can't get She & Him "Volume One" out of my CD player. It's the first CD since Springsteen's "Born to Run" where I readily liked every song on it -- consider that a high compliment.
I've been entranced by the inventive and very tuneful melodies of the songs She wrote. It took a few listenings, but "Change Is Hard" has emerged by my favorite and most unforgettable song. The tune is just plain very inventive and ultimately captivating. That's not to denigrate the other songs. "I Was Made for You" is a rollicking old time "girl-group" tune. Frankly they're all a joy -- this CD really reminds me of the inventiveness and adventuresomeness of early ... Read More:
