Not to overstate it, but this is a fantastic release. Maybe diehard fans might balk but as a musician the artistry shown here is exquisite.

I was turned on to "Possibilities" by the Cable/DVD video documentary chronicling the making of this recording.

A very popular production tool these days, letting top musical performers invite other artists to join in the making of a new album by contributing diverse talents, unique styles, etc. creating new and exciting sounds.

Will definitely recommend to friends and fellow musicians!

A Tribute To Joni Mitchell

This album is the result of a tribute to Joni hosted by TNT Network almost 5 years ago. While some find this missing a few cuts or some of her most popular songs, it is nonetheless a wonderful album. What's unfortunate is that many who buy may not have seen the actual broadcast that was touching and very well produced. It's a shame that TNT didn't release the video of the broadcast. I've been listening to kd Langs version of help me for almost five years from my saved tape; it was the most memorable performance for me during the concert and she did it barefoot; we can always count on kd to buck tradition!

The New Bossa Nova

This is my first album for Luciana Souza and I am well impressed. Smooth voice; Smooth re composition for each song, James Taylor nicely adding his lovely voice on "Never die Young"; This album is a bouquet of nice songs of Sting, James Taylor, Antonio Carlos Jobim, Walter Becker and Donald Fagen. Brazilian Bossa Nova? No.
Bossa Nova Luciana Souza's style? Absolutely.
Highly recommended for all the smooth Jazz, Smooth Rock and Bossa Nova lovers, who are into some great music, composed by all the artists I mentioned above, played, twisted and sang in an absolutely lovely and charming way.
4 stars or 5 are well deserved.

The Orchard

This is a fabulous cd. I am amazed Lizz Wright is not more well known since she is so talented. This cd is sultry and bluesy (albeit a little mellow) which makes it a great cd to unwind with a glass of wine!

Just A Little Lovin'

Not too many white females can claim the privilige of achingly romantic blues renditions done in their OWN way.
i do think this album not only does that but her unique voice and style tell a story not only her own but that of her audience; don't listen to it unless you are prepared.

Maiden Voyage

This was the first Herbie Hancock recording I purchased after The Essential Herbie Hancock. I love everything Blue Note and Rudy Van Gelder, and since I was working on learning the title track, I decided to see what other sorts of tunes Herbie was composing at the time. I think this is probably one of Hancock's most approachable recordings, and while not all five tracks are sparkling lyrical wonders, there's nothing here that might be considered a "throw away track". The title track and Dolphin Dance will stay with you all day after just one listening. This is classic jazz and a great starting point for jazz and Hancock fans.
