Some quality R&B from back in the day - and it still sounds so good. A definite must for your collection. PLUS it's got the "album version" of "Wishing On A Star." Slow jams afficionados know this version is the best. It's got that extra riff at the end (unlike the crappy radio edit you always hear).

Superfly (1972 Film)

This is my favorite Curtis Mayfield album hands down. He really layed it out on this soundtrack for the movie. He was as real as real could get about the street life and the drug dealer and just the whole infrastructure of the street life and the players within the game. The tracks on this album is right on. A must have. That's all I have to say.

This is a great soundtrack to one great movie.

Although nowadays many of the songs here are also on dozens of other Motown comps, this still remains an essential collection for two very good reasons:

1/Freddie Perren (The Corporation) laid down one fine score.
2/This is the only single disc collection to include G.C. Cameron's magnificent "It's So Hard To Say Goodbye To Yesterday," otherwise only available on the 4-CD boxset, HITSVILLE USA VOL.2: MOTOWN SINGLES 1972-1992.

Too Hot to Handle

This is simply one of the most memorable albums of the 70's, period. It also showed the great range of the band, from tender ballads to smokin' dance numbers, with the incredible vocals of Johnny Wilder as the active ingredient. This album came out when I was a teenager and this great music has never really left me.

They put "Swing Down", the old southern gospel song, right in the middle of their second track! It makes no sense, it's just fun! It's funk. It's great music that you can move to.

If you like funk, this is a great album to buy!

The rest of this album is good only for 70s Soul and Near-To-Disco 'extreme' fans.

I originally fell in love with Heatwave when, as a kid, I became hooked on their penultimate love ballad "Always and Forever." As a result, their album entitled "Too Hot Too Handle" was my favorite. Now, as an adult, I have re-discovered my love for Heatwave through the "Central Heating" album. Heatwave band member and chief lyricist and writer, Rod Temperton (who is also the writer of several Michael Jackson hits on his "Thriller" album)is at his best, particulary on the haunting "Star of a Story" which has now become my other favorite Heatwave love song. And, of course, the classic jam, "Groove Line" makes the whole CD worth purchasing.
