Release Date July 14, 1995
This album, though overflowing with talent, is sadly not up to par with his best material. The reason for this albums failing are simple; it is horribly monotonous. When I buy an album by a guitar great I expect that the guitar playing is going to be as good as it can be and that the song writing is going to be somewhat imaginative, unfortunately the song writing on this album was far from the best. I think that the first four songs on this album sounded pretty much the same and at least two consecutive songs were about the very same subject matter and could have been combined into one song. However this album is very pleasent to listen to and has some great guitar riffs and even some pretty great songs Whiskey and Wimmen in particular.

Hooker is at his best on this soulfull inspiring track that seems to dig deep in the soul successfully bringing out emotion and feelings that are not a daily experience. A must for blues loving individuals and a definate first try for non-blues loving people. Guaranteed to warm up any cold evening.
Release Date August 11, 1998
This si simply the best cd you can get, when starting a John Lee Hooker collection. it will introduce you to his early 50's rockin' blues sides liek "I'm In The Mood", you will love this and want more, but start here, it's teh most practicle, as far as songs, and price, and sound qaulity go.
Release Date December 10, 1999
Hooker doesn't play by the rules, and that distinguishes him from most other blues players. His style is raw and gritty, with his right foot stomping. I was only getting to know Hooker when I got this CD, and I was seruiously surprised by the songs where it's just his guitar and his voice: "I'm Bad Like Jesse James", "Sugar Mama", "Hittin' the Bottle Again", and "Thought I Heard". He's clearly not afraid of the imperfections, and that makes these raw guitar-only blues so real. The first time I heard a track like "I'm Bad Like Jesse James" or "Sugar Mama", I was shocked. I listened to it many more times, and the more I listened, the more I loved there blues.
The only problem with some of Hooker's recordings is that there's not enough ... Read More:
