Many consider Symphony X's latest release, Paradise Lost, the band's heaviest to date. As heavy as it is, I believe the people who say so are slightly mistaken. It is the SECOND-heaviest Symphony X album to date.

The Odyssey, from it's first moment, contains more of Allen's raspy vocals (vs. his cleaner singing), more curb-stomping riffs, and even a few classic thrash elements (The Turning, Incantations of the Apprentice). If you're more into Symphony X's traditional keyboard/guitar trading solos and ballads, you're better off with V.

As a music educator, I've found the recorded excerpts to be wonderfully and logically organized and presented. I've always been an instrumental music teacher only, but find myself teaching general music classes this year, and absolutely love what I've used so far. The last disc alone shows the fascinating evolution of the modern orchestra. Every other track is narrative text, the script of which is printed in the booklet, and I present that info myself, modifying as needed and answering questions during that time. I've only skimmed the other information from the booklet on my own, and look forward to reading and learning more! I'll be buying another copy of Instruments of the Orchestra for my school to own in the near future.

this is probably my favorite of theirs out of the three or so that i have. i remember listening to it non-stop, over and over agian when i first got it a few summer's ago. and it still works today. and as far as the band in general, you should love them pretty well if you like guided by voices, yet the singer's are very different in actual voice timbre and in melodies. just simple songs with amazing vocal melodies, i guess is their common trait.

I HEARD SOULFLY PLAYING ON YOUTUBE-PRIMITIVE...AND IT SOUNDED ALRIGHT. AFTER I BOUGHT "INFLIKTED-CAVALERA CONSPIRACY" I HEARD THEM PLAY ON HEADBANGERSBALL, TWO WEEKS BEFORE THE ALBUM CAME OUT, AND MAX SOUNDS JUST LIKE SEPULTURA DAYS- I BOUGHT THE ALBUM AND IT IS NO DESSAPOINMENT. I WENT AND BOUGHT EVEN THE "DARK AGES" ALBUM WHICH SOUNDS LIKE "ROOTS BLOODY ROOTS" OR CHAOS A.D. IF YOU LIKE OLD SEPULTURA, YOU'LL DEFINETELY LIKE THIS ONE. ALSO BUY THE NEW CAVALERA CONSPIRACY ALBUM.
