ForeverSearch: Union by: Bruderschaft Release Date May 05, 2003 Every once in a while you find yourself looking back on your record collection and dusting off those rare jewels. "Forever" hasn't had the chance to be dusted off, it has never left my "constant" collection. "Supergroups" are always very tricky, shady even, but not Bruderschaft...it truly delivers. The combination of Harris, Groth, Montelius, Komor and Arkana proves to be a match made in ebm/synthpop heaven. At this point, "Forever" is a club anthem that never seizes to amaze fans. One of the most beautifully written lyrics in the genre combined with one of the most passionate vocalists of the genre. As an added bonus, an album filled with mind-blowing remixes that really show the diversity and creativity of the remixers. You won't be dissapointed. |
A Gottschalk FestivalSearch: Union from: Vox (Classical) Release Date November 04, 1992 Yes, not the very best in the market, but without a doubt one of the earliest attempts to introduce the music of this great American composer. As the more recent recordings of the music of Gottschalk some of the orchestral works are re-orchestrations too, we might never get to know what Gottschalk really sounded like but these works are a fair attempt to recreate the music. The music is fun and full of surprises. There are some works for piano two-hands which are just as fun and much more closer to Gottschalk than the orchestral works. The orchestras do a wonderful job. |

Gottschalk: Piano Music for 2 HandsSearch: Union from: Nimbus Records Release Date December 30, 1997 Why not I said to myself, I know little of Louis Moreau Gottschalk (1820-1869) and never heard of Alan Marks. No, Louis Moreau is not a German or Frenchman, he was a Creole, born in New Orleans. He picked up the slave culture and its tunes and rhythms along with American folk music which worked their way into his compositions. He came from a well-to-do background and was 12 years old when he arrived in Paris to study musical composition. He became an accomplished pianist and extensively toured Europe where he did very well financially. He was elegant, talented and a womanizer. This combination resulted in him eventually fleeing his homeland to Brazil where he died at the tender age of 40. Fortunately, he kept a diary and there are several good biographies on him.
