Search: Under Your Spell
by: Abdel Gadir Salim

Release Date August 10, 1999
The great Kordofani (in Western Sudan) singer, musician, teacher and band leader Abdel Gadir Salim is one of the lesser known living treasures of world music. In a country so often typified by a violent past of war, religious fanaticism and the political horrors we see in Darfur, he shows another but true face of the Sudanese people - humane, joyful and tolerant. This is a very good CD with excellent liner notes although his earlier, out of print work "The Merdoum Kings Play Songs of Love" (1992) is even better.

One Way Featuring Al Hudson

Search: Under Your Spell
by: One Way

Release Date May 27, 2003
I agree with the previous reviews. I love Al Hudson and The Partners aka Al Hudson featuring OneWay aka OneWay or what ever you want to call them. They are my 2008 alltime greatest R&B group for right now and i don't give that title to any group. You can't go wrong with any of their songs. The one's i haven't found on LimeWire i purchase. I just sampled from lastfm.com the song "I Am Under Your Spell" and immediately dished out thirty dollars to get this cd. They combine the best mix of actual musicianship, new inovative sounds using synthesizers and such. And they are good vocalist as well. Does anyone remember the song by Alisha Myers "just can't stay away from you", i know the ladies will like this one. I bet some of you forgot that one ... Read More:

Live at Carnegie Hall

Search: Under Your Spell
by: Buck Owens & The Buckaroos

Release Date January 21, 1994
This was Buck Owens' first live album. It was recorded on March 25, 1966 at New York's famous Carnegie Hall. This was Buck and the Buckaroos' first performance in New York City. Buck performs many of his most popular songs, although some of them are crammed into medleys. Buck sings five hits in their entirety, with three medleys. The group's instrumetal hit "Buckaroo" is played and bass player Doyle Holly sings "The Streets of Laredo". The CD adds some material from the concert that was cut from the original album. The cut parts were comedy bits where Doyle Holly did impressions of Tex Ritter, Ernest Tubb and Johnny Cash; and the group did their "tribute to the Beatles" with guitarist Don Rich singing "Twist and Shout". This is a very good concert ... Read More:

Search: Under Your Spell
by: Buck Owens

Release Date December 26, 2000
I love live albums and this one is a dandy. Although I was never a huge Buck Owens fan, I found this CD to be thoroughly enjoyable. To me, the between song banter makes it that much more fun.

Heavy Metal Ears

Search: Under Your Spell
by: Picture

Release Date May 02, 2001
For some reason, this CD, like Diamond Dreamer, is actually two albums combined. In the case of Diamond Dreamer, Eternal Dark is the second half, while in the case of Heavy Metal Ears, the second half is their first album, Picture. This has been the holy grail for me, as I was able to buy the vinyl versions of Diamond Dreamer and Eternal Dark while in Europe, but passed up on these two because I didn't know any better, and was never able to get hold of the CD until now.

Though I'm well familiar with many of the songs, I've never heard the album versions. Since their second album, Heavy Metal Ears comes first, I'll review it now.

Compared to the first one, the sound is a little cleaner, though I can understand why they were not happy ... Read More:

Buy it and learn what it was to sing when singing was a national pastime, not a yelling contest.
