Major Miller was lost flying to Paris to make arrangements for his AEF orchestra to begin broadcasts and concerts for the troops on the continent of Europe. This recording preserves some of those broadcasts, as well as some of the rare "Swing Shift" programs. It is a perfect companion to the other "I Sustain the Wings" recordings available to the fan of Glenn Miller USAAF Orchestra. I hope more programs can be found and released as CD's.

Roberta Sherwood--a true gem!! I recall seeing her in performance in Los Angeles shortly after her first Decca recording was released. This was an era of glamour; gorgeous ladies and handsome men smartly dressed was the rule of the day. The ladies of the era were beautifully put together and made up, wearing glamourous gowns and beautiful hair styles. When you went to a club in those days there was the clinking of ice cubes and a very smokey and elegant room. The band would start and some gorgeous creature would stand there in the glaring spotlight and the audience would loudly applaud.
In the case of Roberta Sherwood, the band started to play "Lazy River" strains, the room darkened, there was a spot on an older lady, certainly ... Read More:

Patti Page recorded a number of truly magnificent albums in the '50s but nothing topped Patti's one woman presentation of Gordon Jenkins' MANHATTAN TOWER. Every mood of the city that never sleeps is evoked in this magnificent album. Patti's silken, many times playful voice, and Vic Schoen's exacting arrangements of every selection make this an outstanding performance. And to top off the MANHATTAN TOWER album this CD also includes one of Patti's greatest mood music albums YOU GO TO MY HEAD. From the title tune to it's finish it sets the mood for dreaming by the fire, sipping a cocktail or simply snuggling in a loved one's arms.
As an added bonus we get Patti's early 50s EP, PATTI SINGS THE DUKE.
Undoubtedly one of the ... Read More:

This long out of print recording is long overdue. The original liner notes are reproduced along with notes about the recording dates and some reviews. The quality of this remix is fantastic. the solos pop, the harmonies resonate and you can't help but turn it up to 11. This is a must have for every trombonist. Bands fronting four bones are rare and having Kai and the little recorded Carl Fontana together is a treat. My dad found this on LP in the 60's and I've nearly worn a hole through it. I'm still amazed to hear them doing unison lip trills. This definately was state of the art bone work in 57 and it's still hard to play today.
*ONE MAJOR NOTE!! The track list on Amazon is wrong! The track list is actually from "THE TROMBONE ... Read More:
