I love this album. I remember when we first got it, back in 1992 or 1993, some time around then. I blew our minds. This was before electronica was really separated into lots of different genres. It was just Techno. Anyway, from the first track, we knew that we were listening to something different. That would be "The Joint". I still love that track to this day. Mostly, this album has good, but not great stuff, but at the time, Jungle wasn't even on the radar, and it was so new and fresh sounding. "Lords of the Null Lines" and "Outta Hand" are stand outs as well. Really the only tracks that I could do without are "The Chopper" and "Unity in Dub" but it's really not like they are that bad, but not good either. Average. Overall, I say ... Read More:

This is a middle of the road pop punk cd. Doesn't really stand out, but doesn't fall behind the trends. It sounds cool, but it's all been done before....for some standout punk, try Relient K's the Anatomy of the Tongue in Cheek. Much better.

"Perseverance" is fast, hard, metal, hardcore, and basic. Thrash metal, death metal; whatever you may call it, the first CD for a major label by this group is just as unrepentant as any self-produced metal group ever thought to be.

Hatebreed is beyond the pale for me. I always thought I liked metal (I do), I know I like progressive rock, and I always thought I liked music that challenged the perception of what music can be. However, this music pushes my definition of the envelope so far that the envelope may have popped. After a discussion with the person that loaned me this CD, I realize that this group is likely much better in concert with a nearby mosh pit in which you can express the adrenaline generated by this music. This cd is the sound of revenge. Untouchable in it's sheer aggression and hate, this cd is the perfect soundtrack to work out to, run to, climb mountains to, etc. However, I try not to listen to it while driving, as it makes me want to ram other drivers out of the way. Unbelievable. Though I enjoy all of Hatebreed's cds, this one clearly stands out as the best. For all who suffer, whatever your pain, this cd will convince you to battle on. I would give it more than 5 stars if I could. Anyone who doesn't feel this sucks and should go cop a Blink 182 album. You can smell the blood and tears on this album. Buy it.
