I decided to buy this recording when I heard one of the cuts, Ubi Caritas, played on the radio on Holy Thursday. I've sung this piece a number of times, but here was a recording that was so intensely, deeply spiritual and reverent, it made you stop to pray along with it. The entire album is up to the same standard. The performance, the sound quality and ambience will make you think you're in a church with all the right acoustics. A definitely a "must" for admirers of Durufle's music.

Beautiful and relaxing. If you love Enigma, then buy this. Michael Cretu sampled some of the chants on here for Mea Culpa II and if you listen to the second track on here, those are the chants used in Sadeness.

This is a relatively high quality chant recording from 1995 in Germany in collaboration with a TV show, with 2 CDs and some polyphonic settings as well. It features some seasonal hymns--not just the usual chant "propers" for each Mass--for Advent/ChristMass, Easter, Pentecost, and the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary (including a collection of infrequently recorded Marian chant hymns). The set includes 2 CDs (of over 57 minutes each and 35 total tracks) with a 71 page booklet with commentary and lyrics in four languages: Latin, English, French, and German. An above average chant release, this is definitely not your cheap Canadian rerelease of a burned LP recorded in the 1950s with a reel-to-reel recorder. From the back cover: "This recording ...
