These were reportedly recorded in 1978 by lead singer Rob Grill, keyboard player Dennis Provisor (who joined the group c. 1970 and was a recognizable voice on most of their later hits) and studio musicians, a couple of years before the group shut down. (In the mid-80s, Grill bought out Provisor and organized his own Grass Roots group, who at this writing are still out there performing in second-tier venues around the U.S.)

Sure, I prefer the authentic 16-song collection ("All Time Greatest Hits") on MCA, and haven't played this CD since I got the "real" one. And yes, I have problems with record companies issuing re-recordings and not admitting it on the label.

Wow, does this CD take me back.....it's got everything, all their super hits that took me thru junior high school. "I'd Wait a Million Years" is getting tons of playtime by me - it's mesmerizing. If you are a Grass Roots fan, you have got to get this CD.

The description did not mention that this recording was not by original artists - then I find out I can not return unless it was unopened. I will not by from this seller again. If I wanted to hear songs sung by unknowns - I would go to a Karoke bar.

This CD is a Fresh take on the old Grass Roots hits. I am very pleased with this purchase. Rob Grill still has what it takes to be a star. A must have for any true Grass Roots fan.
