Personally I didn't like it. I didn't think that these songs lived up to Elvis' earlier recordings. They were a bit "blah." Armed Forces, My Aim Is True, This Years Model, Trust even Imperial Bedroom were alot more fun and lively.

A solidly enjoyable return to rock after several years of weirdness. It kind of reminds me of This Year's Model: four-piece rock with a funk edge and lovably cheesy keyboards. And it's good. ("Uncomplicated"; "I Hope You're Happy Now"; "Honey, Are You Straight or Are You Blind?"; the jangly "Next Time Around"). The difference is, there are a few longer tracks that are great, too (the ominous rumble of "Tokyo Storm Warning"; the torch ballad of sorts "Home is Anywhere You Hang Your Head"; the possessive "I Want You", a slow, creepy build-up of a song). And Costello's undeniable songwriting skills make even weak songs like "Blue Chair" (stupid harpsichord...) and the rather unspectacular "Crimes of Paris". Other than "I Want You" none of these ... Are you a Costello completist? Did you already pick up the first 2 boxes?

Well, this time, we get 11 discs (not 12), and a fair amount of music (2-and-a-half hours) compared to the other 2 sets. This 3rd box completes (or so it seems) the first decade of the singles released by EC. (This one covers from July 1983 to April 1987.)

BUT, there are a few flaws surfacing when looking into greater detail in the material compiled herein:

Disc 4, the "I Wanna Be Loved" single, REPLACES the "radio version" that was released as the A-side of the 12-inch single with the "regular" version which appears on the "Goodbye Cruel World" album;
