This is very underrated/unknown!!!

FOREST..was to me the best album ever made in MUSIC history!!! then to follow it up CATHEDRAL made this ep!!

Now on here Cathedral throw in some grove and really get ya near dancing!! THIS IS STILL HEAVY AS FUKK!!! just not as heavy as the first album...but then what is??

This is FUKKING MANDATORY!!!!!

Your recipe for DOOM..first CATHEDRAL ep, FOREST..,this EP!!!!!! I dig this stuff till no END!!!

''FROZEN RAPTURE'' could be right off the first album..so you know what yer getting into here!!

You need to buy this album now! It's heavy (and I mean really heavy, not just slow sludgy, which is all some stoner/doom fans think a band needs to be heavy), trippy, fun, and just all around cool. This sounds like a bizzare thing to say about a doom metal band, but you can tell these guys had fun making the album (especially vocalist, ex Napalm Death frontman Lee Dorrian). This is not your standard doom album. The first track has an almost death metal like feel (the solo is even kind of fast), some of the middle tracks are so accessible that they probably could have been released on the radio if anyone had attempted it, and the last track, Voyage of the Homeless Sapian is a very long, trippy, progressive song. In any case, this is a great album ... Read More:

I had been "waiting" several years for this compilation. Cathedral has many great songs, though I find none of their albums (except the debut) good enough to buy on their own. Mainly because of the poor vocals and the "happy hippie" doomieness. I was always more into "Gothic" by Paradise Lost, the raw doom/death approach, awesome grunts and dark melody. This compilation however, certainly pleases; containing all the songs I wanted on it. Ebony Tears, Equilibrium, Ride, Midnight Mountain, Utopian Blaster, Hopkins and several other great tracks. Cathedral are obviously very influenced by Black Sabbath, many songs have the typical Iommi/Volume 4 sound. But this band does stand on its own. Heavily influenced by Black Sabbath, but doing something original ... Read More:

A Warlock Centenary Album

Yes, it has the Capriol Suite, so don't worry. However, if your only exposure to Warlock is the Capriol Suite, you will be pleasantly suprised. Warlock's biggest contribution to English music was through the media of carols and songs, and there are some excellent selections here, culled from a variety of sources and recorded between 1961 and 1981.

Ian Partdidge's "The Curlew" is as good a performance as you will find of this song cycle. Also among my favorites are "Bethlehem Down," an utterly haunting & touching Christmas carol; a wonderful arrangement of the song "The Lady's Birthday;" also another carol, "Where riches is everlastingly."

Everything on this album is simply excellent. If you are already a Warlock devotee, you will ... Read More:
