If you haven't heard Northwestern's Symphonic Wind Ensemble, you are missing out. This is by far one of the best recordings in my collection. I have never heard a wind ensemble play with such solid intonation and musicality, and this makes the Eastman Wind Ensemble look like a bunch of fools. Simply top notch, and comparable to any professional classical recording out there.

I wish more people (that is, anyone at all) liked Metrovavan as much as I do, because then I'd feel like I belong in the human race.

This album is somewhat eclectic, fairly laid-back, and has sort of a french tone to it (probably the samples of people speaking in French). It sort of reminds me of White Town's (also quite off-the-wall) Women in Technology, though this is by far the stronger album. Tracks 3 and 5 are standouts in my mind - listen to the samples. If they don't work for you at all, then you will probably hate the album. But if you find them intriguing, and like Supreme Beings of Leisure or maybe Portishead (especially if you like them but tend to find the vocals a bit overbearing), you will probably love this album, ... I was looking forward to some good choral music and I ought to have read the program more closely because this disc does not provide it.
If you want some virtuoso solo voice and like hashed old favorites then you might like this.
If you want real choral music look elsewhere.
Having played it through once I doubt I shall ever play it again.
Another one down to experience and for the trash can.

This CD is filled with the music inside my heart that I have not the talent to express. I wish I had been able play this for my children (who are no longer little) when they were babies. This is the PERFECT baby gift. It's the kind of CD that you can sing along with as you rock your little ones. The instrumentation is spectacular. ...So soothing... The music carries with you even after it's stopped playing. I love having it on in the background, to help set the tone in our home. It's a treasure.
