God Forbid's 4th full-length, "IV: Constitution of Treason", is a step up for this modern metal band. The guitar work this band executes is just flawless, whether it would be melodic solos, leads, or even an occasional breakdown. Plus, every song stands out in its league on this album. The vocals aren't too bad, but the not the best I have heard. However, that doesn't degrade the excellence of the CD by any. With well-written songs like "Chains of Humanity", "End of the World" and "Into The Wasteland", impressive guitar work, and a flowing concept on an apocalypse, how could you resist?

Recommended for fans of Shadows Fall, Arch Enemy, and basically any modern metal.

This is a rather difficult album to get hold of, but I think it is by far Naglfar's best. It's not exactly low-fi, but it lacks clear production of later albums, which is a good thing; it still possesses that sort of ethereal muddiness that made the early black metal works so special. This isn't a perfect album; one of Naglfar's problems has always been repetitiveness, especially with the vocals. This album, however, is Naglfar's most dynamic (esp. on "Emerging From Her Weepings", which features some great death vocals courtesy of producer Peter Tägtgren). Highlights would be "As the Twilight Gave Birth to the Night," "Emerging From Her Weepings" and one of my all-time favorite black metal tracks, "Enslave the Astral Fortress." I am new to the American band scene and am blown away (pardon the pun) by the standard of the playing. What also impressed me about this album is the selection of music. I was hoping for some serious music (and I got it in the title tracks) but as a bonus I have fallen in love with the piece "Shadow of Turning" based on the hymn "Great is thy Faithfulness". The playing throughout the CD is warm, balanced and tight. The tone colours are simply beautiful. I Love It! Highly Recommended.
