It isn't Christmas at our house without Kurt Bestor. His arrangments are amazing. I would not call in new age at all. This is the music you want on when you cuddle up in front of the fire and watch the snow fall. It is peacful and enjoyable. I wish he would come out with another one (I already have his entire Christmas collection). Just listen to it before you knock it. You'll fall in love.

If you own "Elvis Presley - 'That's The Way It Is'" CD Special Edition, and you're not a serious completist, then maybe you could put this one on your Christmas list.
I'm a serious EP *Collector*, not Completist, but I surely don't regret buying this speciality item fresh from the soundboard (in 1970). All the instruments have presence, the fidelity is fine - though the overproduction sometimes lends to a more "commercial" mix.
Elvis' voice is splendid on this release. Looking back, it seems that a decision was made to use his fill voice-box on stage (and in the studio) -the movie years and other considerations brought out that relaxed, crooning style so effective on the intimate ballads, and sometimes wrong for uptempo.

If you own "Elvis Presley - 'That's The Way It Is'" CD Special Edition, and you're not a serious completist, then maybe you could put this one on your Christmas list.

This is a soundtrack to the documentary "Elvis That's the Way It Is." The album was a modest hit when it was released in 1970 peaking at 21 on the US album chart (number 8 on the US Country chart) and 12 in the UK. It would be certified GOLD by the RIAA. The documentary covered Elvis' concerts in Las Vegas. It includes both live recordings from the show and "studio rehearsal" recordings. It includes the US hit single "You Don't Have to Say You Love Me" and the UK hit single "I Just Can't Help Believin'". While it is a little lite on the number of songs included (it is just a reissue of the LP) it is still an excellent collection and a must for Elvis fans. Elvis is in top form for these recordings.

This isn't worth the price to get out of print CD's. I recommend that you go hunt through Amazon or eBay for those out of print CD's. I just recently started from Scratch on collecting Elvis CD's and I was lucky to get my hands on some mint condition CD with titles such as Tigerman, Essentials 4 and 5, and That's The Way It Is 3 CD Box set. There are albums on this box set that are out dated because the DSD Technology and the fact that FTD has a deluxe version of the Classic albums. The interviews in this Box set is cool but if you search online for a CD Album call Word for Word. I believe that you will get all that and more.
