"Gioia" is Italian for joy/happiness, and this CD exudes both. A combination of vocals and instrumentals, solos and ensemble work, this recording is almost as upbeat and fun as Sandy Owen's earlier "Boogie Woogie Rhythm and Blues." A few of the tracks are a bit more subdued and introspective, but most of the music is an expression of unbridled "gioia." There are also more electronic sounds on this recording than on Owen's other work, but it certainly doesn't overshadow his pianistic wizardry. I would also mention that Owen belongs much more in the jazz realm than the new age category, although there are crossover moments. The Sounds of Yosemite

I confess I did not buy this through Amazon. I bought it in Yosemite at the visitor's center. I selected it after previewing 2-3 other CDs which featured music inspired by Yosemite. I liked this particular CD, because the natural sounds of Yosemite (such as birds, water, crickets, and thunder) are beautifully incorporated with the music. Very peaceful. Every time I listen to it reminds me of my time in Yosemite.

Like reviewer Lady Ealasaid, I initially had problems with iTunes recognizing this CD, however, after I deleted the album, I was able to successfully reload it into iTunes and my iPod. No idea what the problem was, but all is well now.
