Search: Try A Little Tenderness (live)
by: Otis Redding
Release Date August 18, 1998
As good as Hendrix was at the guitar,Otis Redding was THAT good at singing. This is a great investment especially because it includes the Monterey Pop Festival performances which has the most soulfull recording of a vocal that I have ever heard with "I've been Loving You to Long".What a performance. This collection is great because it also has his earlier songs and the last song he ever recorded two days before his tragic death in a plane crash,"Sittin on the Dock of the Bay".Just think about the peak he was at before he died.He could have done anything with that voice.

I'm a huge Three Dog Night fan, and I've seen the Two Dog version - like on this CD - a couple of times. This CD captures the dull live show of the current band perfectly. It's just boring. You'd think that an orchestra would add to the music, but on a song like "Out in the Country," the arrangement ruins the tasteful organ parts we all know so well in the original. "Try a Little Tenderness" stops being a great powerhouse tune, and becomes a speedy and silly mess. The drummer doesn't have a clue on performing these tunes. The feel is all wrong, but he obviously is a good technical player. Mike Allsup is an amazing guitarist! Always was, and always will be. His parts are timeless, and the BEST thing on this CD! Jimmy Greenspoon, who always got ... Read More:

Of the 3 Edsel repackages, this pairing of "Captured Live At The Forum" and "Harmony" is alternately just okay and then horrible. The reproduction of the audio from the live album is very boxy in quality, although part of this may be due to the circumstances of the era it was recorded (1969). However there can not be any excuses for the ridiculous extended edits performed on several songs from "Harmony," including "Never Been To Spain," "My Impersonal Life," & "Jam," where for some unknown reason pieces of the songs in question have been edited back in a second time in order to lengthen their running time - a complete unneeded travesty! Plus "My Impersonal Life" also leads off with obvious tape warble issues. Exceptionally substandard. Look ... Read More:

by: Otis Redding
Release Date November 09, 1993
All, this box set is worth every penny and then some. The included booklet highlighting Otis' career is not only a fantastic recapture, but features articles and passages by some of the greats themselves (I don't want to spoil it!). Disc four is worth buying the set itself--recordings of his songs from live shows throughout his, sadly, short career. Buy it, and you won't be disappointed. I'm gonna let anyone marry me 'til he loves me like Otis can love.

by: Jimmy Barnes
Release Date September 27, 2004
This album is one of the best efforts by any male singer black or white or pink or yellow or any colour , to come along ever. Barnsay just turned 50 and celebrated it here in Thailand his wife's home country. I can't wait to get my copy of Soul Deeper his follow up to SOUL DEEP.Even if your not a soul music genre lover give this album a listen, try his other stuff too,the guy is one fine singer from the Land Down Under where he has Legend status, and more then deserves it !!!!!
