When it comes to a product as this one - Steve Miller - "fly like an eagle" cd+dvd 30th anniversary edition, I think why does not all classic cd recordings get this fantastic treatment it deserves. This cd+dvd is worth every cent you spend. I have put in straight away the dvd player as I hardly could wait to hear the 5.1 mix. Wow, this one is one of the best i've heard in 5.1 surround. It's really an experience to hear this after you have heard the "normal" version all these years. The end product is well done and the music conneseur will love it. I hope there will be more to come from Mr. Miller in 5.1!

Book of Dreams

I would say that next to "Fly like an Eagle" this is the Steve Miller Bands best album. Every song is good and several became big radio hits in the late 70's. I never tire of listening to this album and anyone who is a true fan of this group should own this CD. Although steve miller had other songs on later albums that also received Radio attention, "Fly like an Eagle and "Book of Dreams" were definately the high point of his creative powers. Aside from the Joker, these two albums are a must for any collection. It was groups like this that made the late 70's and early 80's a special time for music.

Despite their nearly 30-year career, Magnum is still largely unknown and criminally underappreciated. Which is a shame, since their unique blend of pomp rock, prog, and AOR should make them a big hit with fans of classic groups like Queen, Kansas, Jethro Tull, and Journey. It seems like each of Magnum's studio albums was released by a different record label. Some have been remastered, some haven't. That's where a good compilation comes in handy.

There are a surprising number of Magnum collections out there, but the 3-disc box set Long Days, Black Nights: the Alternative Anthology is by far the best. If you like a hard rock blues orientatad love song this CD is for you, but if Love songs make your skin crawl avoid this at all costs. To me the material on this CD sounds like at there worst both Deep Purple and when going bad Kansas.I am not saying this is a bad CD infact for what it is its good but it does not live up to its title of Progressive Classics infact its hard finding one progressive in nature song on it.The vocals are great the music is good but recording on some of the songs sounds a bit flat, as I say buy this CD if you like love songs but dont expect it to be as good as there true classic Chase The Dragon.
