While the movie puts the tension and emotion to good use, one can easily draw the same emotional impact from the disc itself. The nine pieces on this disc are as thoughtful selections for setting the feel of a movie that you are likely to find. Special kudos go for the inclusion of Krzysztof Penderecki's Threnody for the Victims of Hiroshima. This piece for 50 or so strings has to be one of the most accurate and chilling musical portrayals ever composed. |

All of the trio's hits are here - - more to the point, the collection is a document of Cole at the height of his powers. It's stylish, urbane and superbly performed. This is an import for Amazon, and it appears from the Penguin Jazz Record Guide that it is going out of print. So if you are thinking about buying it, I'd buy it as soon as possible. You won't regret it. |

Soul SymphonySearch: Trouble Is... by: Sounds of Blackness Release Date November 26, 2002 This album is little known, but fantastic. Quite a wide range of music on it, but is all very cohesive. In the parts where they touch on modern R&B sound, it is truly cutting edge world class stuff. The production and songwriting is collaborative effort, much driven by Gary Hines who has worked with the Basement Boys on a lot of house music. Ex-Prince collaborator Levi Seacer is also in the group and I think he has a hand in this as well. Much respect to these folks - they are brilliant! |

The quality of this oratorio is certainly below that of, say, Esther or Messiah. The recording still deserves five stars, because the performers didn't write the music, so it would be unfair to penalize them for the fact that I found the music to be under par. I like Harry Christophers, The Sixteen and the usual soloist crowd that frequently sings with them, that's why I bought this thing. I wasn't disappointed in the quality of their singing, but I wish they had applied their talents to some better composition. |

I liked this collection for it's taking a chance at a whole new presentation of disco planet Starting the show with Babyface and then a hip hop version of a cool RING MY BELL? COOL!!
