I'm almost 37 years old, and love all the old B-Boys hits. This CD has'em all! Everything I've ever loved about the Beasties is on this CD, and I may never eject it from my car's player again!

This is classic hip hop from the Beastie's....definitely their best since Paul's Boutique. I never really followed them since PB, but heard Ch-Check It Out and decided to give the CD a try..first listen was okay, but more and more I just can not get enough!! Every song is pumpin' like back in the days....but with a new feel to it as well. Still can't get into their last 3 CD'S (Check Your Head, Ill Communication and Hello Nasty) although some of the songs on those albums are excellent, there are a lot of fillers in my opinion. But, any past fan from the early days should pick up Boroughs...you will not be disappointed.

having only heard ch-check it out and intergalactic before purchasing this album, it was somewhat of a leap of faith. but now i can say it does not dissapoint. i'll give a seperate review for the cd and the dvd.
CD - although i have nothing against cuss words, i got the edited version since i saw it at walmart. i have to say, it is the best-edited album i have ever heard. although most songs didnt have to be edited anyway, the ones that were (especially ch-check it out) sound great. its hard to tell they were edited, it blends in so well with the beat. it is also very diverse in musical style. from rap, to rap-rock, to rock, to metal, this has it all.
DVD - this is what hip hop videos should be like. not the stupid ... Read More:

This is obviously a collection most will buy for the videos. While the most casual fans will be happy with simply the biggest hits, the DVD will appeal to the fanatics. So, I guess there's something for everyone here. This reminds me of the recent Red Hot Chili Peppers "Greatest Hits" with DVD, meaning music and videos, but only the basics. Still, the songs are classic, and who does video better than the Beasties? Remember the "Fight For Your Right To Party" video, or how about the awesome "Hey Ladies" and "Intergalactic"? Not to mention the 70's cop spoof "Sabotage". This might not be as great as the "Sounds Of Science" anthology song-wise, but with the added videos, it's "Solid Gold".

Don't get me wrong - I'm a huge fan of the Beasties, and the Beasties bickering about politics doesn't bother me, what's wrong with this album comes in the form of too little, as opposed to too much.
The first Beastie Boys album in 6 years "To the 5 Boroughs", is a very plain Beastie experience compared to the likes of "Paul's Boutique", "Ill Communication", and even "Licensed to Ill". The production on here, all of it done by the Beasties themselves, is sorely lacking. Gone are the guitars, and in once again are tons, and tons of samples. The sampling thing was cool back in '89 with Paul's Boutique, but this is 2004, and I was expecting a new sound from the Beasties, instead of the stripped-down minimalistic beats on here. The ...
