If John Zorn worked with Converge, it might sound like this. The Mass don't fit into any genre, but are best (and always) described by comparison to The Dillinger Escape Plan, Fantomas, Mr. Bungle - you get the picture. What sets the Mass apart are (a) saxophone, and (b) a willingness to play straight-up, horns-in-the-air metal, if only for seconds at a time. This Oakland-based band is less vocal-oriented than their peers (but where there are vocals, they are varied and effective). Thus, instrumentation takes center stage. In addition to the requisite art-skronk freakouts, there are intriguing composed passages and moments of introspection. In a world filled with musical conformity, "City of Dis" is a refreshingly challenging listen.

Metallica may have artistically peaked with Master Of Puppets (or maybe Justice), but this is my favorite album by them. It balances the fiery rawness of the debut with the more complex arrangements found on Puppets to create one of metal's defining masterpieces. Anyone who's ever had even a passing interest in metal has owned this album at some point or another.
It starts out with what is arguably Metallica's hardest hitting song of their career, Fight Fire With Fire (dig those drums, Lars!) and never lets up. The only real "break" we get is the semi-ballad Fade To Black, which is definitely one of the band's top five songs. The album culminates with the one-two punch of Creeping Death and Call Of Ktulu. There's also these two other ... Read More:

Great metal but since its a cover album you can't really call it gore metal...considering Led Zeppelin didn't talk about dismembering prostitutes...and neither did the Cure. Aside from that this is great considering Exhumed puts an interesting twist on the songs, as i've said the Cure wasn't death metal. Reccomended for a fan of the band or death metal.
