Xela's label takes on an indie and experimental neofolk three-piece band. Heading up the group, Mitchell Akiyama produces loosely structured rubber-band like rhythmic pieces accompanied by his breathing, distorted vocals along with a sweet and sexy whispering growl from Jenna Robertson. I know that observation may have sounded unappealing, but the above combination of sonic jam produces a desirable effect (otherwise I wouldn't listen to it over and over). I've been a King Missile fan since the early 90's(Sensitive Artist & Detachable Penis are my personal favorites). I took advantage of a sale recently to buy this cd that I hadn't heard in a while.

Their lyrics are so amusing that I looked forward to reading along while listening. However, upon purchase of this cd I was dismayed to find that my booklet-insert was missing some pages & had some dupblicates (Im missing songs 3-6) but have duplicate pages for (#s 6-8 & 16 & 17).

I assume this was not deliberate but is just an accident due to shoddy assemblage.

It has been established that there is such thing as new, original shoegaze, although it is rare and usually disposable. And then there is the majority of the genre, the stuff that sticks close to the roots and does not really bring anything new to the table. I could fill pages of albums from bands that have no originality whatsoever and are nothing more than a pack of cigarettes to be smoked through, and the carton thrown away. The Ludvico Treatment are probably just another band of this type, but something about them is compelling.

Di Lorenzo: Dracula, The Seduction

This CD has grown on me over the past year. On first listening I found a few tracks really interesting and exciting but had trouble with others. Now after hearing it completely many times I've developed an appreciation for the whole work. There is some very good music here, atmospheric and exciting and, yes, seductive. All played with great skill by Proteus 7. Give it a try.

Three Centuries for Four Brass - Metropolitan Brass Quartet

This is a re-release of material that appeared on an extremely rare LP that was released just as CDs were appearing. The selection of baroque and contemporary classical works for brass quartet is extremely well-played but the works are not particularly flashy. This CD would probably be most appreciated by brass players and brassophiles.

One of the members of Juvenile's UTP group (along with Young Buck & Wacko), Skip drops a decent album. I heard him on a few albums (lil Flip, G-Unit mixtapes, B-Legit, MC Eiht) and I his verses and style, it was something different then I saw this for a few bucks and I picked it up. It has a good amount of songs (17), 1 or 2 I skip, 9 are good, 1 is almost a classic, and the rest are ok. Guests are on slightly over half the songs and are from his UTP click. Production is decent as well with Juvenile and DJ Divine doing 15 of the songs the other 2 are by: Cool & Dre and Pied Piper. A nice album for fans of his or some good down south rap check this out.

i got this cd because the music store was going out of business. i'm glad i got this because i like juvenile,skip,young buck and cory cee and waco. they are all tight. it is a double cd with utp compilation and skip live from hollygrove. if you have these already dont buy this because it has the same songs, but if not this is a good choice because you get 2 cds for the price of 1.

On A Wing is a uplifting new release. The kind of cd I enjoy listening to from start to finish. I was fortunate enough to be in New Mexico at the time of their cd release party. It was a great live performance and the music recieved an outstanding reception from the fans. All of the songs on this cd tell a real life story that we all can relate to and you will find yourself singing along in no time, without the radio. Catchy tunes that stay with you with a brilliant mix of melodies. On A Wing is perfect for setting that romantic atmosphere for any occasion, or crank it up and jam out dude.
