Assuming that you have the necessary good hifi equipment to make this CD sound as it was intended, this is a fine recording of some ballet highlights that will have you tapping your foot, humming along and generally enjoying life, very much as I suspect the Slovakian musicians did while playing (in February 1988). Weber's 'Invitation to the Dance' is the version orchestrated by Berlioz for the last act of 'Der Freischütz' and is, in my opinion, more subtle than the original piano version (which is also definitely worth listening to). The ballet music from Adam's 'Giselle' and from Gounod's 'Faust' is equally delightful, and the brass is put to some very good effect, especially at the close of the 'Walpurgis-Nacht' scene from Faust/Margarete. ... Saw Stephen Scott with Sonny Rollins and since Sonny has gone of into Calypso land and Bob Cranshaw just ran the numbers on electric (say's Sonny can't hear acoustic) was always most impressed with Scott. Here he plays well and chooses standards that are great. But you know that thing where it just won't hold you for one sitting and you split listening up.It's strange for me to say why because technically Scott is fine and plays with great flourish. His "Black,Brown, and Beige" type of three(MP3) or four part piece is not exactly up to his technique.Since it's cheap what's the risk. It's still a solid CD from a talented player.

I listen to a lot of different genres of music. I recently heard MGMT's "time to pretend," and was very compelled to buy the CD. I normally don't buy CD's, but I found myself in a store that sells them (and I had consumed some lunch beers). I decided to roll with my inclination.
I popped the disk in almost immediately, on my way home, and reconfirmed that I like "Time to Pretend." I was also really grooving on "Electric Feel," but to my disappointment these are the only two songs that are unique and very enjoyable. The rest of the album sounds totally different. I don't really see what they are going for here. Some of it seems almost like a mockery of some very influential classic rock bands. I would have to recommend against buying the ... Read More:

The performances are top notch, but you wouldn't listen to this just for fun. You would have to be either getting ready to be in this show or watch this show.

When I saw a local production of NUNSENSE, I immediately wanted a cast recording of this show. It was by mistake that I came upon the London cast album of the show. This album was a gift and because it was the London cast recording (instead of an American version) I was expecting not too enjoy it as much. However, looking back on it, I don't really know why. Anyway, I love this album so much. It is a wonderful reminder of how much fun this show is. The only thing I think should have been included is a live, taped version of Amnesia's quiz. That is one of the highlights of the show for me.
Regardless, this is a wonderful cast album...and is really a must for any Musical Theatre fan.
