Buying Party Central is definitely better than buying all of the individual albums themselves. You are getting the best (oftentimes the only) good song of an old album.

In that regards, Party Central is a good bargain.

However, as an mix album, I found it hard to listen to it straight-through. After awhile, the amusement wore off and I found it annoying. Maybe it's the sequencing of the tracks?

Either way, it's a good compilation as far as invidual songs go. But for a mix cd flow-wise, I didn't dig it.

This is a collection of dance tunes covering the seventies through the early nineties and ranging from disco and soul to new wave and club. These tracks were chart toppers in any combination of the pop, R&B or dance charts-some, all three. "Celebration" by Kool & The Gang and Irene Cara's "Fame" are in their LP versions and "Breakin..There's No Stopping Us" by Ollie & Jerry is a track from the breakdancing craze of the mid eighties. The eco friendly packaging is very unique-these titles are packaged in recycled board and biodegradable trays. At least you won't have to worry about replacing jewel cases.

Mercury's "100% Pure Dance" is a delightful collection of dance discs. Seduction's "Two to Make It Right" is one of the catchiest ditties you'll likely to hear. (I made the mistake of playing it on my way to church and kept singing to myself throughout the service, "It takes two to make the thing go right; It takes two to make it out of sight.") Stevie Vincent's "Dirty Cash" has a great techno dance beat that gets my shoulders swaying, "I wasn't right, now it's all behind, I want to get rich quick, I want success." Frustrating that Ultra and Thrive have been opting for these quick one disc releases, and I hope it doesn't lead to them not releasing their 2 disc sets at all. The thing to appreciate about this collection is its inclusion remixes of commercial pop hits that are mostly unavailable on CD--which is why it's a shame that most of them last under 5 minutes. Damaged is a bit too choppy and tribal a mix that actually detracts from the original flow of the song. The Den Broeder mix of Rihanna is great because it stick most closely to the original, flawless track, retaining the MJ sample, which most of the remixes of this song failed to do--but to have only 4 minutes of it is pretty useless for collectors who are looking for this official `extended' version.
