This is a great Shanklin album; one that his fans and new listeners alike should enjoy. Shanklin is in top-notch form and his impersonations are dead-on in both his spoken and musical parodies. "Mama Told Me Not to Run" contains a bunch of different tracks that are greatly rewarding including the single funniest parody I have ever heard on a Shanklin album: "Vacation".

"Vacation" comes out of nowhere and the punch line is hilarious. I have played it numerous times and I have not yet grown tired of listening to it. I've also played the track for family members who might not otherwise listen to political humor and they've enjoyed it too. The one time my friend and I caught his live show, we were put through hours or boring chat from Mr. Mraz. People come to hear you sing Jason, not jabber on muchadoaboutnothing. I'm not sure if he was drunk, or other, but his sets were boring and it made me realize so is his music. Good voice, but learn to take it more seriously.

Don't know thing one about Jason Mraz but someone mentioned him in passing and I liked the samples well enough so I bought it. Interesting songs and instrumentation however...Live is one thing, hysterical screaming fangirls is quite another. I really could have done without this one. Too bad, it's probably turned me off from trying any other Jason Mraz albums.
