Dear World (1969 Original Broadway Cast)Search: Tomorrow Morning from: Sony Release Date May 19, 1992 I owned this as album years ago. I recently saw a special on Jerry Herman and his discussion of the show peaked my interest again. Whatever the troubles were with the original production, they are not evident on the soundtrack. Even though Jerry himself was forced into writing the Act I number, "Dear World," it is still an amazing song. Perfect for Jerry and Angela fans! |

Tribute to Joseph Spence: Out on the RollingSearch: Tomorrow Morning by: Various Artists Release Date October 18, 1994 This Hokey Pokey charity collection, subtitled "a tribute to the music of Joseph Spence & the Pinder family," is a wonderful surprise. The surprise is that anyone would attempt a tribute album in honor of the late Spence, an idiosyncratic Bahamian guitarist whose gruff mumbling voice was accompanied by some of the most nimbly unpredictable guitar picking ever recorded. The wonder is how much this album succeeds in re-creating Spence's island zest and audacity. The guest list is delightfully far-ranging, from well known string dazzlers such as David Lindley and Ralph McTell to Malagasy musicians Tarika Sammy and Rossy.
