Ok, it's a brilliant compilation of bands... but I truly wish that the Beverly Killbillies (who for some reason aren't even listed as a band on here, but are the ones who perform "Wanted Man") did EVERY song on here. Not that I don't love Deadbolt (cause who doesn't love Deadbolt?), but the B.K.'s are just amazing! Makes me want to strip...

Having got the SACD hybrid version that I discovered only when I brought it home from the store that it was made in Austria, I thought I'd get the Japanese mini-lp sleeve version to see if I had gotten a bum deal. This version has excellent sound quality and really after seeing the others try, only the Japanese have so far truly mastered the art of making truly great mini-lp replica sleeves that not only look like works of art but also are able to stay in one piece without falling away in tatters like their EU cousins.

As I don't have an SACD player, I can't tell you if the first disc I bought was really worth it but the sound quality is quite close when played on your normal cd player. Given the big price differential and the ... Read More:

Yawn! Why is this album in such high regard? It's crap. It's just a commercial computer manufactured pile of flaming poo. The guy can't even play guitar! He only knows how to play two chords. I think it's about time someone showed this hack to write music- Fred Durst, perhaps?

with the exception of the first couple of songs, Dylan's earliest recordings, which are not very good & was befroe he ever really found his voice, the rest of this double CD is fantastic. The recordings were made between 1961-1966, and feature alternate takes, demos, and live recordings. Since the album is in chronological order, the first CD features acoustic Bob Dylan, and shows why he was the pre-eminent poet and folksinger of his time. The second CD is from the time when he first went electric (with The Band backing him up), and really rocks. This is the Soundtrack of the excellent Bob Dylan film by Martin Scorcese. Any fan of bob Dylan (particularly his old stuff) will love this CD.

Loud and fast takes on the best Dylan rockers from 1965 (give or take). The (N)obsoletes are obviously true believers and had a ball bashing out these tunes. The liner notes are a discourse on "Why punk rockers hate Bob Dylan" and the music is a grand argument why they should reconsider. This is the most fun I've had listening to a CD in a while. If you like this, check out "Is This Progress?" by the Obsoletes, one of the most refreshing straight-ahead rock bands around, featuring former members of Yesterday's Kids, the Benjamins and Boris the Sprinkler.
