Yet another album (see my preceding review) that's just made the vinyl-to-CD transition in my collection. The ballad "Where There Is Love" and the stomping "Breakout!" are both worth checking out but the real meat here is to be found on the club hit "Forget Me Nots", sampled in recent times by both Will Smith ("Men In Black") and George Michael ("Fastlove"), the incredible instrumental "Number One" (a huge favourite among the dance & rare groove set for years) and of course, the beautiful mid-tempo ballad "Remind Me" with its sick electric piano solo - also sampled, this time back in the 90s by Faith Evans ("Fallin' In Love") and 'referred to' by Mary J Blige ("You Remind Me").
This is one gem of an album. Patrice Rushen has ... Read More:

The first time I bought this CD, I fell in love! I usually despise compilations of songs that are sung by un-known artists. Dance CD tend to do that. This CD, however, DOES include songs recorded by artists we know and some we don't but the whole thing is great!
"Endless Love" sounds great in a dance version. They did it well.
"So Many Men, So Little Time" is a satisfactory version. The Miquel Brown original cannot be beat but Touchez did a decent job.
Everbody knows Ce Ce Peniston's "Finally." What more can I say? You either liked it or you didn't. I liked it!
"Pompoos" is okay. I never heard of the song before and don't care if I ever do. It does ... Read More:

Please be forewarned - a couple of the songs are the "radio" versions; i.e., truncated. "Let The Music Take Me" is one of my all-time favorite dance songs, but the version on this CD is the severely edited version. I'll buy the [finally] just-released "Pizzazz" CD for the long version.
On the plus side, the clarity is great and listening will bring back lots of great memories for all Patrice Rushen fans.

An ok collection of disco sounds. Nice pix on cover of CD's with a warning of offensive images. Oh my! My copy was found at a used CD store. Not bad for US $....
Release Date March 25, 2001
This is a 'must own' for those who are serious about Gary Davis' music. It is filled with sloppy outtakes of tunes rarely recorded (and obviously rarely practiced), licks he didn't attempt in performance, and some incredible playing failures that only further show his mastery of the instrument. In other words, in here aren't so much polished gems of performance but the raw and uncut rock that might be mined for future musicianship.
A whole disc is devoted to recordings of him playing in his house. The listener will find that the mic is often moved around loudly, people in the house talk in the background, and various other ambient noises can be heard. Thus, again do not expect a polished recordings from a studio. Instead, expect a lazy performance ... Read More:
