This is not shallow poppy punk for the masses, not is it emo or screamo with guys wearing eyeliner. This is straightforward, raw punk rock, in vein of the Ramones. Although this band is on an independent label, the production and songwriting is atypically sound throughout. The only complaint I have is that the album is over too quickly!! The songs are fast as hell, and catchy, but each song is short and the time goes by too fast. I guess when you can say that about a punk record, it is a very good thing. Much better than listening to My Chemical Romance whine and wail away for 5-6 minutes on each song. This is raw, this is punk, and this is in your face!! Turn it up loud, and GET RETARDED!!

Morning Recordings is Pramod Tummala, the mainstay of Chicago's Melochrome. Melochrome has to date released three entropically laid-back albums on the great-in-the-small Loose Thread label; the band has taken an indefinite break while Tummala has continued following his quiet muse. It's really a fragmented extension of what Melochrome were about on their third album, THIS IS MOTION - - quietly atmospheric ditties, with a couple of instrumentals sprinkled amongst the hushed vocal tracks. Tummala has a number of helpers along the way, including Melochrome's own Thomas Stanley and Zelienople's Mike Weis on drums as well as Deanna Varagona who pitched in on THIS IS MOTION. Ok, so I haven't bought this album - and odds are, I won't. So, you might be asking yourself why I'm writing a negative review. Well, two of my favorite artists are Ryan Adams and Wilco. I have the albums the two songs here are from, and these are two of the weakest songs on each album. So, while I love hearing great new music, I'm wondering how good of a sampling I'm really getting from the other artists also. I'm very disapointed with the songs they chose from the artists I know, so I'll skip this in the fear that the other artists are also misrepresented.
