I can't believe anyone would give this a decent review. It's awful. All Music Guide calls it "confused and unsuccessful," TheatreMania Guide to Musical Theatre Recordings dubs this "Not Recommended" and says "this recording is an out-and-out failure," and Musicals101 chimes in with "painfully miscast" and adds "pretentious trash." They're right.
At this point you can pick this "gem" up for less than $3!

"Honey Pig" might remind one of Christmas dinner, and like the long lines at the stores, I'd cue for this sweet suite. At once, Honey pig teases the Nashville sound ethic while defying Nashville's stifling sameness. This is fun and the fun rubs off. There's pathos too, real and honest, but the CD never becomes indulgent, condescending or numbingly cliché, proving there's still plenty of original thinking around and fresh sounds to deliver them compellingly to the listener.

I am partial to Monday because her voice is so beautiful. I met her once and she is so kind and happy-go-lucky. Not to mention she's one of the most beautiful Japanese women I have ever met. As many of her other albums, she writes and sings about love an relationships and this recording does that well. Its not one of my favourites by her, but if you want to hear lyrics that are poetic, buy this one. In fact, these aren't lyrics. This is poetry with acid jazz in tow. You almost wonder if she is extracting personal sentiments from her journal. Her words seem that genuine. Her rendition of Hancock's Maiden Voyage is so calm and soothing using the flutes and other woodwinds. Listen to this with the one you love.

This Sequel Records compilation of Goffin & King songs is an excellent release. Carole King with her then husband Gerry Goffin were known primarily as songwriters before Carole's amazing "Tapestry" album forever changed that. This recording compiles many of the British artists who recorded their music. While songs like Julie Grant's version of "Up on the Roof" may not eclipse the Drifters in American minds, hearing the different interpretations of the familiar music shows how adaptable and strong the Goffin/King songs are. The Rockin' Berries have such a classic sound with their soaring harmonies on "He's In Town," "You're My Girl," & "I Need You." I love this CD so much that I bought it twice I bought it once off of Itunes because I wanted a copie of it so bad(it wasn't available in America
yet it was only May of this year)a few months after I bought it on Itunes I heard that it was coming out on CD so today I bought a copie.I love all the songs so much they are all my favorites I'm so glad that I have a copie I hope all the fans and even people who aren't fans will buy it.

I bought the CD because I was going to see the play. Both were wonderful. I think they are better than the original. Kelli Ohara not only has a perfect voice but is a terrific actress and you can hear that on the CD. All of the others are fabulous also. The only one not quite as good as the original was Bloody Mary, but I think they were trying to make her less of a caricature and they did succeed in that.
