I can't believe anyone would give this a decent review. It's awful. All Music Guide calls it "confused and unsuccessful," TheatreMania Guide to Musical Theatre Recordings dubs this "Not Recommended" and says "this recording is an out-and-out failure," and Musicals101 chimes in with "painfully miscast" and adds "pretentious trash." They're right.
At this point you can pick this "gem" up for less than $3!

This album is not what I expected. It is listed as a "Cast Recording" which implied to me it would at least be the songs as performed on Broadway by a 'Cast'. Instead it is 100% instrumental and then only a medley of each of the individual songs.

This CD refutes the argument that all sopranos sound out of tune when being played. This lady has produced a well balanced "fat" sound on a straight soprano - no mean feat. I do think that a curved soprano is the correct shape, even though it does look a bit like a toy, as it the shape of all other saxes in the family. This said I recommend this CD to all beginers as an introduction to the soprano sax. Before I get to the actual review of these two wonderful albums, I would like to address some of the unscrupulous and unethical activities that music labels, such as the one in question, engage in. In the `editorial review' portion of this page, you will notice that the recoding label states that "These albums have been remastered from premium quality sources with the utmost of care and released here in their original stereo versions." This description makes it sound as if this CD has good sound quality when, in fact, it has nothing of the sort. Although I ultimately do not want to dissuade anyone from purchasing this CD, it should be mentioned that all tracks are victim of a rather loud and obtrusive hiss. Like all Collectables CD's, there is no engineering ... Read More:

This is the second volume in the Como Boxed Set and includes most of his hits from the 50's into the early 60's. It's a tragedy that most people under forty don't even know who Perry Como is and few have ever been exposed to his music. This album will introduce to some marvelous music, sung by the inimitable Perry Como. As a fan of Perry, Sinatra and Bing Crosby, comparisons to their voices is inevitable. Perry modeled himself closely after Bing and the influence clearly shows. His voice wasn't as deep and his range wasn't as great, but his voice was more mellifluous and mellow, particularly as he aged.
I enjoy Perry's music as he got older. He learned how to use his vocal instrument more effectively as he got older. My only regret is the omission of Perry's ... Read More:

This excellent volume from Sepia comprises London cast albums from three Rodgers and Hammerstein shows: OKLAHOMA!, CAROUSEL and SOUTH PACIFIC.
OKLAHOMA! was almost as successful in London as it was on Broadway, running an amazing 1,548 performances, and starring the relatively-unknown Howard Keel (credited as Harold Keel) as Curly. Betty Jane Watson played Laurey with Dorothea McFarland as Ado Annie, Henry Clarke as Jud Frye and Walter Donahue as Will Parker.
As one would imagine, Howard Keel's voice is perfect for Curly. Betty Jane Watson is a lovely Laurey (though one would assume that the high and wild note she hits at the climax of "People Will Say We're in Love" wasn't heard during actual performances). Dorothea McFarland and Walter Donahue ... Read More:
