Much like the film, the Casper soundtrack is very well done, and comic but a little melancholy. Most of the tracks are light-hearted and funny, and are more than fitting for the entertaining ectoplasms that star in the film. Casper's Lullaby is sweet and somewhat melancholy, a haunting melody that captures both Casper's friendly personality and the sorrow he feels that he is dead. Overall, another excellent work from soundtrack genius James Horner.

I've already learned all the songs on my piano from listening to the soundtrack. :-)

Janácek: The Makropoulos Case

This is a recording of pluses and minuses. On the plus side, it's sung in English, a major benefit in this of all operas with its complex plot centred around the most tortuous legal case since Jarndyce vs. Jarndyce in Dickens' Bleak House. To be able to follow the intricacies of the developing relationships between Emilia Marty and the other characters and all the ironic hints at the true nature of her `case' is a huge help. Against that it must be said that the intonations of the Czech language that are so fundamental to Janacek's musical language do not translate easily into English: there are some pretty strange and unnatural stresses sprinkled about the English text. Lennox Berkeley: Ruth

This chamber opera based on the book of Ruth has a dramatic libretto by Eric Crozier and a surprisingly effective score which due to limitations at the time premiered, includinng two flutes and piano. Despite the fact that all of the singers and the orchestra performed their parts superblly, I really could only recommend this to people who are interested in berkeley or chamber opera.

Rebirth

This is my first album I've ever listened to by J.Lo and I really like it. I am amazed at the amount of bad reviews people gave for this album, but I'm not a veteran J.Lo fan.

"Rebirth" is fun, funky, and gets me dancing. Some of the songs are kind of hokey. They're the type of songs I would expect to find on an Ace of Base album. No disrespect to Ace of Base because I like them too, but the lyrics get pretty cheesy sometimes. They are the type of songs you memorize and sing along to in the car.

In any event, if you haven't listened an album by J.Lo before, you'll enjoy this one very much. It's a nice blend of what you would expect, like dance songs, coupled with really nice r & b slow songs.
