Anthology: Downtown to Sunset BoulevardSearch: This Is My Song by: Petula Clark Release Date February 15, 2000 This singer produced alot of brilliant songs.Had an excellent voice,and in fact still tours sometimes. I love the song Downtown and I know a place. A Sign Of The Times is another Fav of mine, but my favourite track is Color My World. This is a great anthology from this singer who has had a stellar singing career. |
Mussorgsky: Boris GodunovSearch: This Is My Song from: Melodiya Release Date July 16, 1996 Melik-Pashayev was one of the best conductors of his time. He secures great playing from the Bolshoi orchestra and the chorus is better then on any other operatic recording that I ever heard. Ivan Petrov is very powerfull and he is the first bass who tries to sing Boris not as an actor, but as a singer. Other Roles are also sung well. Arkhipova is solid and light at the same time, Ivanovskiy is dramaticly the best Dmitriy you could hear. Shulpin is making a great contribution as Shuyskiy. He realy sounds more like a threat to Boris than the Dmitriy. Reshetin is solid and severe as Pimen, Gheleva and Zakharov make a good pair of Varlaam and Missail, and the great Alexey Ivanon is playing the small role of Schelkalov. Anton Grigoryev has a ... TodaySearch: This Is My Song by: Petula Clark Release Date November 04, 1997 In 1971, Petula Clark left Pye records (home to Sandie Shaw, The Kinks, Donovan and The Searchers among others)and left behind unfinished products worthy of release. Pye Records pulled session after session out of the vaults and the result was an album of 12 tracks entitled "Petula Clark Today". Misleading, because most of the tracks were recorded in 1967-1970, they still sounded quite contemporary with the pop fare coming out in '71. The original album was bookended with the hits "I Couldn't Live Without Your Love" and "This Is My Song" both from 1966. In between we are treated with some of the finest pop tunes we had come to expect from Ms. Clark. Every bit as good or better than her hits, this is one fine album's worth of songs. The songs on the album are fantastic, and put together very well. Al shows why he has remained so popular through the years. I do wish it was longer though!
