CD 1 is some of the best most sublime music I've ever heard. CD 2 is as
dull and uninspiring as it gets. So Chris is batting .500 on this one.
Not too bad.

I was kind of dissapointed with this one, but I'll admit I still listen to a few tracks from it now and then. It does come with a pretty cool DVD of a set at Amnesia, but it's only a couple of 20 minute clips. I still enjoy watching it, though. There just aren't as many tracks on this album as I would have liked, and they were a little too mainstream. I just expected something more like the Sound of the Third Season with Richie Hawtin, and it just wasn't that.

Perhaps the best Torme cd I now own. Recorded at a jazz festival in Japan, Torme's vocal efforts are absolutely at his peak form, the accompaniments are excellent (Ken Peplowski, Peter Appleyard, etc), and the recording quality is much above average for a live performance. (FYI recorded in 1992). A knockout selection of standards, including a great tribute to Benny Goodman.

This is a great playlist of some hits over the years. My only beef is that includes the shorter cut of Omnibus. They are not mixed into each other so great tracks for dropping into your own mix!

I bought this CD because of the song "At Five We Drive" which I randomly heard on an Internet broadcast one day. It sounds like what you REALLY wanted Frank Black (what with his apocalyptic moody guitars, crazy chord tendencies, odd tempos, nervous and edgy but sweet voice, and Space obsessions) to sound like after the Pixies or his first coupla solo albums. It also sounds like something that could easily have been on a Sebadoh album as well. After I got the CD, that song "At Five..." has now taken the place of one of my all-time favorite songs. The rest of the album is not consistently as kinetic as this song... but that's not necessarily a bad thing. There is good writing here overall. Excellent playing. I like the CD as is today, 6 years ... Read More:
