Search: These Foolish Things (Remind Me Of You)
by: Art Pepper

Release Date July 01, 1991
This comeback of Art Pepper meant the performance of excellent albums, this one and one year later other of my favourites, "So in love". Love was making its way on Art's music and he was able to perform beautifully. He blew so naturally, showing his feelings rawly from his guts. Art Pepper shows he was the prototype of a musician and fame made him hurt although he liked it. Really he never was thinking of making the most commercial album but the most honest album instead. This album is the evidence and the quartet as a whole made a real jewel. Enjoy it, you won't be disappointed.

Great cd if you like various big band artists. I'm trying to find Two O'clock Jump that was performed by only Benny Goodman! Anyone know where I can find this song and on what cd?

Search: These Foolish Things (Remind Me Of You)
by: Red Ingle

Release Date August 04, 1997
This one is a true classic.

Red Ingle was the "weird Al Yankovic" of his day, parodying serious popular songs - sometimes even classical is thrown in: "Pagan Ninny" for Paganini. Delightful!

I found out about this reissue while listening to "Weekend Radio," a syndicated comedy program. When I was a kid, my sister and I WORE OUT a 78rpm record of "Cigareetes, Whuskey and Wild Wild Women" and, after 40+ years, I was singing right along - that's a memorable piece of music.

Once you've heard the title cut, "Tim-Tayshun," you just can't get it out of your head.

Most folks today aren't old enough to remember the original (serious) versions of these songs, which is too bad.

I would recommend this ... Read More:

Search: These Foolish Things (Remind Me Of You)
by: Red Ingle

Release Date September 03, 1997
I heard many of these songs on the Dr. Demento show in the '70s, back when the good Doctor played many old classic '78s. of course, the signature song of the album has already been mentioned in several reviews--"Cigareetes, whuskey and wild wild women." But "Pool," "two-Dollar Pistol," "Chew Tobacco Rag," and others got air play at that time. also my uncle, not telling me it was a parody, sent me "Tim-tation." My uncle and aunt got me hooked on Spike Jones when I was quite small, and Ingle, who was an early member of the band, is worth the trouble I've taken to find this CD. I saw it listed once, years ago, at a far higher price, and haven't seen it since, until just now, and I've gotten it. bluegrass fans and fans of funny stuff, rejoyce.

Search: These Foolish Things (Remind Me Of You)
by: Jo Stafford

Release Date August 30, 1994
Smooth, Creamy, Crooning, like Soft Velvet!!

Shamefully, Sony has taken this box out of print. I am not sure what they're thinking. Here we have one of the very greatest female singers from the big-band and swing eras, all the way up to the 70's, who's output reads like a "greatest songs ever" list, and it is now, no longer available for us to enjoy (unless we, luckily, already own a copy of it.)

If your wallet can "take it", by all means, grab up one of the sets being sold by secondary sellers...you'll likely not get a second chance.

This, the Columbia years of Jo's career is just simply "wonderful", and "the best of the best"....but, you will also be wanting some of her Capital stuff, also...Plus, "The Columbia ... Read More:

Search: These Foolish Things (Remind Me Of You)
by: Phil Bodner

Release Date April 10, 2007
For the most part the jazz world has missed out on the excellent playing of clarinetist Phil Bodner since he's spent most of his career in the studios. But every now and then he's popped up on jazz sessions and when he does the music is sure to be outstanding. This CD collects a handful of different private sessions Phil made in the '60s and '70s with various personnel. The best of them is one he made with guitarist Gene Bertoncini: the rapport the two men have for each other's playing and the excellent arrangements make for superb performances.

Almost as good is a session with pianist Hank Jones and drummer Butch Miles: their LADY BE GOOD is top-notch. A little quirky, even a bit schlocky, is a session with Dick Hyman on organ, and Bodner ... Read More:
