DRG 25th Anniversary Show Stopping Performances

I don't actually own this particular compilation, however, since I own nearly every recording represented on these discs...I think I'm qualified to comment. This is a wonderful representation of the high quality of work that DRG Records does.
The previous review is way off the mark. This is definitely not a waste of time or money. This is 25 years of preserving Broadway shows, Off-Broadway shows, studio recordings (mostly from the city center concerts), etc. So what if they "aren't as good as the original", DRG is preserving many recordings and artists that other mainstream labels don't or won't. You have wonderful recordings from Brian Stokes Mitchell, Nathan Lane, Debbie Gravitte, Tyne Daly, Anthony Perkins, Joanna Gleason, Marin ... Read More:

Recorded at the height of anti-Jane Fonda hysteria, the movie and soundtrack were ignored and underplayed, yet it marks both Paul Butterfield's and Mike Bloomfield's first overture toward mainstream listeners. Add Maria Muldaur, and it is a rock & blues masterpiece, with a decided leaning toward early 1970's album oriented FM. Right where most of us boomers first heard the blues. Mike Bloomfield is in fine form... own this before "Live at the Old Waldorf".

Old Neil was right - "Rock And Roll will never die". Not as long as these guys are around. Keyboards can be pretty, emotive and sensual, but damn, when you play a guitar like Warner and Dan, that's just SEX!!God bless Chuck, The Faces, Ian Hunter, The Satellites, The Scorchers and God Freakin Bless Dan Baird and Homemade Sin. You cannot drive a vehicle with the windows down without this blaring VERY LOUD! The reviews above are spot-on when they say it's nothing new. But man, if it ain't broke, don't fix it. Just use todays studio technology to make it sound even better.
