Andrew Lloyd Webber made it again. Much better than the overrated CATS, this musical brings some memorable songs such as "Love Changes Everything" and "Seeing is Believing" wich are oftenly found in Broadway selection albums. Besides, the story is very attractive and the staging seems to have been very suggestive, despite being a "chamber" musical. It's a pity that it became a flop.

I have enjoyed this LP for many years now. It was recorded in 1958
and these three GREAT musicians are no longer with us: the virtuoistic VICTOR FELDMAN/Piano & Vibes, the rock solid bassist SCOTT LAFARO and the impeccable STAN LEVY on drums. This is much more than a casual listen and is HIGHLY RECOMMENDED.

I'm not totally sure what "Frank" means exactly. I originally thought it had to do with her blunt honesty, but a friend told me she was a huge fan of Sinatra and named her dog (I think he's the one on the cover) after him. Anyway, Amy's voice is amazing and while her vocals are reminiscent of Billie, Sarah, and Ella, she manages to pull off her own style. Something I love about this album is that it's very straight forward and what you see is what you get. Her second album "Back To Black", while also good, relies too heavily on the 40's and 50's jazz sound and sometimes borders on gimmicky. "Frank" pulls from the past, but sounds very much of today. First up is the debut single "Stronger Than Me". Over a wobbly hip hop beat, Amy complains about her "lady ... Read More:

The night before the recording, the trio performed at the Estonian House in Toronto. It's a wonderful performance space with lots of wood and great acoustics. The concert was really an intimate affair with Kenny adding many amusing asides between numbers. It was clear that the musicians were on form and had come to play.
The following afternoon, Kenny, Dave, and Trevor assembled at Phase One Studios to record the twelve numbers you'll hear on this disc. There was a small audience of enthusiasts in attendance, many from the previous night's performance. Everyone in the room seemed comfortable with the relaxed atmosphere of the informal recording procedure. The musicians seemed just as loose, but their intensity and focus was evident.

That's how much faith I have in Ms. Winehouse!! I got a free download from iTunes a few months back called "You Know I'm No Good" and I haven't been able to tear myself away from her hypnotic and nostalgic voice!!
I already know that this album will be great. She has such a No Holds Barred way of living that it has no choice BUT to spew over into her music. I can't wait to buy this album!

Now that she's a household name you'd be remiss not to have this album that makes Back to Black (as awesome as it is!) look like a typical sophmore effort. Frank is refreshing and soulfully put together, great lyrics, outstandign vocals and great beats. A fantastic debut from one of the best new talents to emerge in a very long time.
