Inspired by a glowing review in Power Play magazine I picked this up and it ain't half bad. Venturia play an amalgam of a range of hard 'n' heavy styles of music. There are twinges of power metal here in the strident arrangements and passages of biting guitar. There are aspects of the goth metal so prevalent in the female fronted metal genre, brought to mind largely by the use of a female as one of the vocalists for the band. There are also liberal splashes of melody which is a large part of the two aforementioned categories. Perhaps most intriguingly there is a definite element of prog in the labrynthine arrangements and challenging tempo and melody interchanges utilised.

I have several of Dean Evenson's wonderful cds. They are perfect for meditation. The transitions from song to song are unobtrusive and the songs them selves allow you to focus with out distraction. I enjoy the addition of the nature sounds as well. I also enjoy listening to them as I go to sleep at night. This is a great cd!

I discovered Shelley and her band by accident at a free concert in New Braunfels, TX. Half way through the show I had bought both of her CD's. They get a lot of play time in our home. In fact, for over 4 months now, these two cd's have been the most frequently requested by my 10 year old daughter who is guitar player herself and an aspiring lover of Texas music. I guess that just confirms that Shelley's music, although definitely Texas through and throuhg, has an attraction that can pull in just about anyone. The voice, the melody, the instrumentation on every track is awesome. Every lover of Texas music should have this CD.

I discovered Shelley and her band by accident at a free concert in New Braunfels, TX. Half way through the show I had bought both of her CD's. They get a lot of play time in our home. In fact, for over 4 months now, these two cd's have been the most frequently requested by my 10 year old daughter who is guitar player herself and an aspiring lover of Texas music. I guess that just confirms that Shelley's music, although definitely Texas through and throuhg, has an attraction that can pull in just about anyone.
