Maynard Ferguson is sure is my all-time favorite trumpet player since high school. I was the 1 that got introduced to him in '98 or '99 since I check the first album "Conquistador" (which is sure my fav from him), I'd always wanted to hear him play and see in concert in all that. But anyway I'm a professionally trumpet player myself that used to play in the jazz band, concert band, honor band, marching band and all of that you name it.

Ok back to the album, everytime time I play that disc, I hear it sounds good than his previous albums he put out back then incl. 1's he did w/ the Stan Kenton Big Band (sure of heard of him he's good). I don't appreciate the patronizating tone of the liner notes and I'm taken aback by reviewers who use words like syrupy to explain away the colorful diversity of 70s AM radio. I don't buy that for music to be cool it has to be loud rock and can't be soft ear candy. That's FM audio cop out conditioning by pop critics who think only bad is good and hard sounds are hip. Not so unless one has narrow minded taste in pop music.

This series is notorious for being inconsistent. And then some. Too many volumes are filled with trivial, frivolous filler. Yet here Torn Between Two Lovers, Don't Give Up On Us, The Things We Do For love and Gonna Fly Fly Now are 4 major hits that make it worthy. They bring back memories when the world was a happier ... Hard to Find Orchestral Instrumentals II

This disc is really a trip down memory lane. Even if you haven't seen some of the movies, the songs are still recognizable. Who hasn't seen "Star Wars", "Rocky", and "Close Encounters"? A few of these may be known only to film-buffs, like the instrumental "Midnight Cowboy", or the almost creepy "Dueling Banjos", both films staring "Jon Voight". And me being a big "Clint Eastwood" fan, I do like having "Every Which Way But Loose" also. Overall, this is a cool thing to play "name that tune" with, and should be enjoyed by anyone over 30.

Pretty good cd, with music not only spurs fans like. The radio parts are exiting, especially Elliott Beats The Blazers (In English And Espanol). The spanish version is even better than the english one (una bomba de tres). A CD every basketball team should have in their arena! (especially in germany).
