I love the music on this album - classic Henry Mancini that perfectly evokes the 1960s madcap comedy sensibilities of the film - but where's Fran Jeffries? My personal favorite bit in the film is the scene where the lovely Fran Jeffries sings "It Better Be Tonight" - but that song is not included on the album! Henry Mancini's orchestra and chorus go a great job on the song - but the lack of Fran's voice on the album keeps it from getting that 5th star.

The music on this CD is timeless. I still have the original album I bought 23 years ago. It remains one of my favorites. There are 6 bonus songs included on this CD. This music is a nostalgic treat for fans of Henry Mancini, Tom Jones, and of course Inspector Clouseau followers. The songs are a balance of fun, lighthearted tunes, beautiful instrumentals, and romantic ballads. Pink Panther aficionados will love this music. It's a magical journey that shouldn't be missed by long-standing and new fans alike!

way back in the era of "love" came along someone who really preached what it was all about:as in when you had the open happy fields of the south with Sweet Blindness (as in the happiness one feels with a swift drink which you will not tell anyone what you've been a drinkin' (Jack Daniels, come to think of it)-lots of love, possible; the tracks and cracks and open wounds of possibly crack cocaine in Poverty Train and the thought of a starving feeling (before the time of March of Dimes or was it always there?);or as in lonely women who strive for tomorrow without a hint of love in Lonely Women, perhaps a paen to the abortion process; the driven bravado of the lover who leaves all behind him in Eli's Coming (am I right or wrong); the great happy time ... Not an odd collection of tunes, but an odd collection of performances.
It not a bad idea: jazz that got top-40 air play. But if you're expecting to hear the versions that were played pop radio, that is not what you'll find here, with the possible exception of Ramsey Lewis's "In Crowd"
That's really not a bad thing by itself. Some of these interpretations may surprise you. The version of Take 5 has extended solos (though it's an odd recording, with Desmond off mike for the first chorus). Toots Thielemans whistlinghis way through "Blusette".
Some things make you wonder. A very young Ella Fitzgerald muffing the words to Mac The Knife. And the CD opens with a flat out bizarre version "The Pink Panther Theme" with bassist ... Read More:
