Night at the OperaSearch: Take A Bow by: Original Soundtrack Release Date February 22, 2000 Given the fact that Marx Brothers CDs are very rare, this CD containing music and dialog from A NIGHT AT THE OPERA, ANIMAL CRACKERS, AT THE CIRCUS, and ROOM SERVICE is a real treat. Since these movies were made over 60 years ago, one should not expect the greatest audio quality..but who cares? It's the material and nostalgia factor of these recordings that really matters. Contained in this collection are classics like: Cosi Cosa; Hooray For Captain Spaulding; and Lydia The Tattooed Lady, to mention a few of the many gems. My only small gripe is that A NIGHT AT THE OPERA was short-changed omitting the classic moments from IL Trovatore, including the hilarious "Take Me Out To The Ballgame" that was inserted in the overture. The Marx Brothers Sing & PlaySearch: Take A Bow by: The Marx Brothers Release Date April 18, 1995 The concept is great and audio quality is fine, but there is one major flaw...the tracks are all a hair too fast. My guess is that this was compiled from European film transfers of 25 frames-per-second, as opposed to the correct U.S. speed of 24 fps. |
Being JuliaSearch: Take A Bow by: Various Artists Release Date November 16, 2004 Being Julia OST has a beautiful main melody which occurs over and over again throughout the tracks. I especially like "Curtain Up" and "Quite Alone". However, Being Julia OST doesn't have other strong melody to show along side with the main melody which seems a little too simple for a complete album. The movie is great too. Annette Bening's performance is outstanding. |
