Nerve DamageSearch: Sympathy for the Devil by: Skinlab Release Date April 20, 2004 im a huge skinlab fan that is not to excited about this release. there are a few good finds but most of this album is slight remixes of songs you can find on other albums. this would be a terrible first skinlab purchase. as far as categorizing this band i dont believe they fall into "nu-metal". whoever started that term needs to re think it. skinlab is one of the few bands that are keeping straight up metal alive. it would be wrong to lump this band into the overatted pop metal bands like korn (if you can consider them metal). if your looking for a good metal band skinlab is it just hold out on this album for a while. |

Skinned AliveSearch: Sympathy for the Devil by: Skinlab Release Date April 29, 2008 Great, super heavy live cd from one of the Bay Area's best. I thought their past studio CD's were pretty cool, but hard to find....I see this everywhere, so that was one nice perk, and second, everysong is their best work from their past studio cd's...so that makes one killer cd from start to finish. I agree with the other reviewers, this is possibly the heaviest live recording I have ever heard, or any recording really....I'm anxious now to see these guys on tour after hearing this. 2 thumbs WAAAAY up! |

Infernal ViolinsSearch: Sympathy for the Devil from: Analekta Release Date April 03, 2007 I ADORE this CD. I first heard it on the local classical music station and my ears picked right up. "What IS that?" It was so alive, so vibrant. The station only plays it about once a year, but each time it catches my attention. "Ah, that's Angele Dubeau." The selections are a mix of new and old. Two of the new pieces are by Francois Dompierre; his "Le Diable matou" is one of my favorites. I play this CD over and over and over... I disagree with the reviewer who said you must love violin music to enjoy this. I do enjoy the violin, but I think the CD's power and reach go far beyond violin lovers. The CD also includes a DVD of concert excerpts. Give this CD a try. I'm so glad I did. |
