Is this the best of her work? It's all fabulous, let me tell you, but I have hope that the best is still yet to come. This CD proves she's still out there and she's still working.

I listen to this music and think how many moments has her music been with us even subconsciously? "Pleasant Valley Sunday" reminds me so much of a neighborhood I once lived in with the garage band down the street and the lawn-of-the-month wars between the neighbors on either side of me.

Oh yeah, and I heard "I'm into something good" the first time I saw my first crush. And "Natural Woman" was my favorite song for years...just how many artists have covered this song?

And it's rather good, well apart from one or two tracks. It catches Leo a little after the excesses of his disco phase (and I admit I have those on vinyl too) and the best tracks are the more understated ones. Instrumental support from some excellent session musicians, as well as Lindsey Buckingham and the superb David Lindley. The cover of the Amazing Rhythm Aces' "Dancing the Night Away" is a highlight. And I recall "I Can't Stop Loving You" being used in an episode of the UK televison series "Minder". My favourite album of Leo's remains "Just a Boy" but this might come second.

Solo Acoustic, Vol. 2

If you have Solo Accoustic Vol 1 than you will enjoy Vol. 2. However if you dont own Vol. 1, I would suggest you buy it as it has more of the well known hits. Jackson Browne has great songs but this album is more of lesser known material. If you like accoustic music in general than you will really like this album.

If you have Solo Accoustic Vol 1 than you will enjoy Vol. 2. However if you dont own Vol. 1, I would suggest you buy it as it has more of the well known hits. Jackson Browne has great songs but this album is more of lesser known material. If you like accoustic music in general than you will really like this album.

This is Dave Hole's first album which came to light because he sent the album to US Guitar Player magazine and blew the reviewer away. Ten years on I find many tracks which are still great and many tracks now less than memorable. Dave's slide is still the highlight with none better than the title track 'Short fuse Blues'. Other feature tracks are 'Purple Haze', 'Albatross', 'Travelling riverside blues' and 'the sun is shining'. However, there are too many songs on which Dave's energy exceeds his talent. High energy blues/rock which is still worth a place in my collection.

So Jackson, who was clearly listening to a lot of Bob Dylan records at the time, decided he wanted to be like a certain critically acclaimed, commercially successful living legend/cynical street poet with a really bad voice - only with a considerably better voice (technically speaking, anyway) and soft-rock instrumentation. Really, he only blew it on one count. Too bad that count was he didn't have the talent of Dylan's elbow. He tackles weighty topics - depression, suicide, drug addiction, apocalypse - but he doesn't say anything too revealing about any of them, and we wind up with several spare piano and acoustic guitar ballads that are lifeless and unoriginal, if earnest ("For Adam", "My Opening Farewell", "A Child in These Hills", et al).
