Search: Shattered
by: Meredith Ryan Packer

Release Date April 15, 1997
Dateline: 11/15/2000 - (VM - Kids America Productions - Las Vegas NV [from a review of her CD, "Live From Carnegie Hall"] Label Epilogue).

"13 year old Meredith Ryan Packer performed at Carnegie Hall in New York after which she was drowned in roses and bouquets. Rarely is a writer at a loss for superlatives when describing a young performer... mostly because the child perfomer is innately charming. An author's charmed heart usually does all the work for him by magically taking control of his hand and pulling pen over paper, much as a horse following after a carrot on a stick draws a carraige. But here, after many attempts to describe Meredith's exquisite vocal presence in her singing, it is clear that composing a proper ... Read More:

Search: Shattered
from: Chandos

Release Date March 15, 1993
Though it premiered in March of 1944, "A Child of our Time" remains thought provoking in its social-philosophic message some sixty years later. The 1992 recording on Chandos, captures its spirit and intensity. Well, worth listening to. The work was performed this summer (2005) at the Berkshire Choral Festival.

i first heard of violation on a necropolis records sampler. It had the song Mortal Divinity. this was a damn good song, and soon after i got this album. Let me say it is downright amazing. great guitar melodies making it very melodic on then whole. a good production and solid drumming makes this one of the best music surprises ive ever seen (avulsed's stabwound orgasm is up there too).Definately check this out! especially if you are a fan of melodic death metal

Search: Shattered
by: Original Soundtrack

Release Date October 05, 1993
I really don't know what to say about this one. First though, I am a big fan of Horner. He's done some incredible work. Second, I think I ought to confess that I bought this soundtrack out of curiosity. I'd read a review elsewhere that basically said that this was the worst soundtrack Horner had ever written (and for a true Horner fan, that is reason enough to own it I suppose).

I don't personally believe that this is Horner's worst. I'm sure he's written poorer music at some point. It does have a theme (nothing special....but it's got that definite Horner sound to it). It is not entirely disagreeable. It does have 'the instrument of shock' and some interesting drum solos. Unfortunately though, the first track is what really kills ... Read More:

Massenet - Le Cid / Domingo · Bumbry · Plishka · Byrne Camp Chorale · OONY · Queler

Search: Shattered
by: Jules Massenet, Eve Queler, Plácido Domingo, Grace Bumbry, Opera Orchestra of New York, Byrne Camp Chorale, Paul Plishka, Clinton Ingram, Jake Gardner, Peter Lightfoot, Theodore Hodges

Release Date October 11, 1989
This recording has been around for thirty years and now that I've acquired it I wonder why I didn't do so earlier. (However, this is now available in a bargain "twofer" format with Sony Classical rather than in this more expensive set- though you have to do without a libretto. Still, the plot is uncomplicated, the synopsis adequate, and the cues clear - so if you have a bit of French to boot you won't be lost.) There isn't, to my knowledge, an alternative version, but with a performance and recording of this quality you won't need one: the three principals are in magnificent voce - especially Bumbry - and the opera is packed with stirring emotion, lovely melodies and dramatic confrontations. Some of the triumphal music is redolent of "Aida" and Massenet once ... Read More:

by: Lucky 7

Release Date July 01, 1994
After a wild and successful ride through the East Coast's club scene, this dedicated and rockin quintet breaks through with their most accessible album to date. This doesn't mean One Way Track is their best, by any means. Throw together former Mink Deville players Kenny Margolis on accordion and Boris "Bobby" Kinberg on percussion with the Rock Cats' Barry "B.B." Ryan on Guitar- add the great rhythm section of Joe "Legs" Geary and Joe "Dio" D'Astolfo, and you've got one of the greatest bands to play clubs like Lupo's, The Lone Star Cafe, and other acclaimed East Coast clubs for over two decades!Check out "Get Lucky", "Feed the Snake" and their debut on vinyl, "Lucky 7" for a taste of NYC's finest. ... This is an absolutely beautiful soundtrack and it should be in every belly dancers collection. There are so many songs that can be used in performances and they are all the perfect length running between 2 and 4 minutes. This is a very hard cd to find so get it while you can!

The Crypt Injection

Search: Shattered
by: Dawn of Ashes

Release Date February 19, 2008
Once in awhile, a harsh EBM/"hellektro" album will come along that is undeniably a cut above the rest. Dawn of Ashes' "The Crypt Injection" certainly fits this bill. Their first effort, "In The Acts of Violence", although decent enough, failed to capture my attention with any standout tracks, save for perhaps "Naildriven" and "Abyss". "The Crypt Injection", in my opinion, is a step above and beyond their freshman release.

The opener, "A Blade in the Dark", reaches like a madman for the jugular, and seethes with nasty aggression, well-placed synth melodies, and a suitably-effected vocal delivery that makes the "greats" of the genre pale by comparison. Add to this some great horror movie samples -- including a memorable quote from Rod Steiger in "American Gothic" ... Read More:
