Search: Sha La La (Make Me Happy)
from: Hip-O Records
Release Date October 21, 2003
This soundtrack of the movie Radio is brilliant! Love 90% of the songs, with absolute conviction. The sound is amazing. I listen to it over and over again. If you love some classical and mostly older Motown, with a little bit of older classic rock thrown in the mix, then this is the CD for you.

This entire CD is just unbelievably great. The soulful singing, the bottom bass and drum, the just-so organ riff, the magnificent horns, and the lyrics are one of rock/soul/R&B's great achievements. Beautifully arranged, with the essentials tightly grooved together, without the overproduced, overdubbed sound that ruins so many other efforts.
Too bad this CD is currently unavailable. But, if you can't get this CD, try some of the greatest hits CDs, or spring for the box set. One personal recommendation: Be sure the CD has "Take Me to the River." (Oh well, you may have your own personal favorites: "Let's Stay Together,"Sha La La," "L-O-V-E," "Look What You Done to Me," and on and on.) ... Read More:

Al Green is like sex -- the worst I ever had was wonderful.
How someone gives this album 1 star is beyond me. The sound quality isn't perfect, but totally adequate -- particularly, given the likely condition of the original master tapes and the facilities in which most of these recordings were made (Google Royal Recording Studio in Memphis, and you'll get the idea). I don't think you are likely to find any better quality recordings of Al Green's music.
Most Green fans will have heard most of this material. It is a fantastic retrospective on the music of an absolute industry giant.
