This review is not about the music but about the time, relevance and composition of this album. It is a precious piece of the 70's puzzle as it unites two lost souls at possibly their lowest points in their storied careers and out of the ashes produces a soulful album. Yes, as everyone has already said over the years, this is a messy, ragged album. But the 70's was a messy, ragged world and the emotion of a few of these songs is precious. Last dance is great as Harry delivers a wonderful rendition and you can hear him struggle to hit some of the notes he was so famous for. His comment at the end was an honest one and now it brings a wry smile to your face. Lennon throws in some primal screams for good measure in other songs. Don't expect ... Read More:

From all the material issued since her passing, this is the first comprehensive release of Dalida's Italian recordings. I've collected some from the Barclay period and others from the Orlando years, but never knew there was this much material. Seven full discs of wonderful songs, some only recorded in Italian (I believe) and others Italian versions of her French recordings. This does not get a full 5 stars, as it is not in chronological order, though they try to keep it as close to chronological order as possible. I also found some songs are in French vs. being Italian versions, but there are very few. One is "Bambino" from 1956. This is another collection put together by Warner Brothers (3 in all)that spotlights Ray's tenure with the label. The best track on the CD is the re-recorded "You Got the Music Inside", a song Ray orginally recorded while at Barnaby Records, and like most of Ray's quality recordings have been neglected and not released on CD. Also, other outstanding tacks on the CD are the 2 UNRELEASED trilogies, the dance trilogy, Do you wanna dance, when you dance, and Save the last dance for me, and the OLD Faithful Trilogy, Shake a Hand, Since I Met you Baby, and Always. The material on this CD should have been released years ago,when CD's first appeared, this material is too good to be BURIED IN VAULTS

Not only is this CD jammed packed with tunes, but they are mainly all good (2 1/2 bad tracks out of 50 is amazing!). You get a feel for Petula's French stuff and it is eye-opening. She had so many hits and they're all for our enjoyment. I cannot recommend this CD enough.

Who would have thought that DALIDA would made disco music popular in FRANCE in the late 70's?This is an example of how DALI always reinvented herself through the years.I am fond of the early stuff she recorded at BARCLAY with LATINO and ITALIAN overtones.This collection covers her whole career well and is a perfect introduction to DALI's repertoire.Like an another reviewer,i was also annoyed by the dialogue between the songs that were i think unnecessary,but that didn't spoil my pleasure.The success of DALIDA almost twenty years after her death is amazing.A singer who can make a listener allergic to disco music to like it is no ordinary popular singer.There are even shows that are made around her and a tv movie was made on her career and private life.Her brother ...
