In fact, this is the second release in the last 12 months featuring the best of Roy Wood - last year EMI released "Roy Wood The Wizzard", featuring music from the early to mid-seventies. Woody actually was involved in the track selection on this release, and he's done quite a good job!

This CD chronicles a very difficult time in Roy's career - he actually found himself with 3 different record contracts in the mid to late-seventies, and as a result became one of rock's "burnout" casualties. Despite the enormous pressures from record companies and management, he continued to make some of the most original, idiosyncratic, and often-times brilliant pop music into the eighties.

When I heard about this boxset I pretty much knew I had to have it. The label, Irdial, has actually made the recordings available for free download on the internet, and you can also download a PDF of the brochure, but I wanted the package, which is actually very nice! The broadcasts were definitely not made with any artistic intentions, but what Irdial has done is indeed a work of art.

I had a shortwave radio as a kid and would go to the rooftop of my apt. building to listen to all kinds of stuff, like Radio Moscow ("Welcome to Moscow Mailbag") as well as ranting and raving about "imperialistas yanquis" from Cuba. Ok I really did like East Side Milita great f-king instrumentals and s-it like that but this album's instrumental's, vocal's, and nething else I can think of ... soooo bad. Take my word I did not enjoy this album at all it's all rehashed you hear me rehashed! So do yourself the favor and avoid buying this follow up... it only got 2 stars from me because I like the cover pic.

So I recently got into King Diamond. Recently as in 2008! So I am a brand new fan. So I have no real bias towards his work.

Everyone told me Abigail was the best and a great place to start. So I bought it.The album is indeed good, but I must say I perfer newer King like The Puppet Master or Give me Your Soul.
Abigail is more straight forward 80s classic metal.
Where as the newer stuff is almost a gothic metal. It is also much more structured and catchier.
Not saying either is better, but if you like things more on the goth metal side, go with new. If you are an old school metal fan, go with old.
