I recieved this DVD for my birthday and I was completely blown away.
I have seen the Flaming Lips in concert, but this was WAY better.
I loved how they mixed interviews and backstage footage with live footage.
How could I have missed this amazing concert?
I HIGHLY HIGHLY HIGHLY recommend this DVD to any FLips fan, or just anyone who wants to see the greatest concert on the planet made possible by the greatest band on the planet.

Being Gourds fanatics, we swooped on this one when it was first released. And, the truth of the matter is, it's never lost its grip. The most played set of music in the house. The 6 year-old plays it before trundling off to school to set her game plan in motion. The 18 year-old cooks and does her other chores to it; chores of enchantment(thanks, Howie!). The wife and I dance and canoodle to it.It can't be too bad. It's an all-over the shop type thing, that fits the Gourd's eclectic, collective state of mind. And that suits ours, so well. Other reviewers have annotated the thing more than adequately. So this is just a heart-felt endorsement.Rock on guys!

This is a great album. People always ask what I'm playing when I have this on. It has a lot in common with the downbeat realm of Zero 7, Thievery Corp, etc, but with a solid hip hop sensibility underlying that manifests through head noddable beats and a sound that is a little harder and rawer than the above listed groups, but in a very good way. He uses a few vocal samples, all of which are deftly incorporated and make you want more, but for the most part it's pure instrumental. Jel definitely pulls in sounds from realms outside of the usual hip hop cannon, and avoids the traps of monotony that most hip hop instrumental projects suffer from. No matter how bangin' a beat is, you're going to get bored after a couple listens to a 4 minute track ... Read More:

When I heard that "I, Robot" was finally going to be translated into a movie, my first thought (after the usual musings about casting - can't go wrong with Will Smith as the lead, right? - and director) was who was going to compose the orchestral score. I was somewhat familiar with Marco Beltrami's other film scores ("Scream" series, "T3" and "Hellboy"), but I have to admit, I wasn't sure whether his score would do justice to the movie, especially when I learned that he was, quite literally, a last-minute replacement...
Well, I'm so glad I was wrong... this score is so emotional and powerful on so many levels ("Spooner Spills" and "Dead Robot Walking" are two of my favorite cues), and it fit the mood, tone and theme of the flim so well. ... Read More:

This is the return of Penal Colony, one of the early pioneers of industrial rock music. I am still a fan of that coldwave blend of synths and guitars with aggressive politics and intellectual sarcasm. You get all of that here...certainly a huge band to sighn for the DSBP record label.
