A good measure of L'Atome's newest foray are orchestral manueverings that commit effects through their evasive and elusive dodgings; yet still, and quite slyly, emote a vaporously enchanting and ethereally engulfing sonic envelope.
- There's not a whistle-able tune in the whole batch. But, hey, this is the kind of music my brain likes to think it can conjure up. Kinda like an ongoing, iterating ambient background score for life's fractious screenplay.
My advice is to feed th'ole meat-computer some of this thru the ears while you're changin' the oil in the car, or stuffin' a squirrel, or jez plain starin' at the sun,...an' pretty much guar-an-tee you'll come out the other side a better person.

The soundtracks for Final Fantasy have recently taken a turn in Squaresoft recruiting new people to do the game soundtracks. Nobuo Uematsu has been the main individual doing the Final Fantasy soundtracks up until recently, where for FFX-2 it was Noriko Matsueda and for FFXI it was Naoshi Mizuta and now Hitoshi Sakimoto. This change in composers has reflected in the form of where Square has been taking their Final Fantasy games. Final Fantasy 1 to 10 being somewhat the same kinda game, Final Fantasy 11 being an MMORPG, FF 10-2 being more "mission based" and now Final Fantasy 12 changing a lot from the previous final fantasy games, being more like 11 in my opinion.
As far as the soundtrack, it's fairly good but not as good as previous ... Read More:

A lot of the performances are horrid, some of the arrangements are insipid. There ended up being about 30 tunes and songs here that were of interest--and over 100 that I'll never listen to again. In many ways, it's a beautifully packaged vanity project of limited interest musically.

You know, Beck is respectable but it doesn't mean that I enjoy all of his albums. I mean, nothing by him touches Odelay but there's still other works I enjoy (Mellow Gold, Midnite Vultures, Sea Change, Guero). However, this release is just strange and I wonder how even the biggest fans of the record can listen to each song the whole way STRAIGHT from beginning to end. Sometimes, I view this as a mixtape and One Foot as a demo collection.
The biggest put-off for me is probably the song titles. There are three untitled songs that thereby screw up the rest of the track listing. "No Money No Honey" is listed as track 7 but is really 8, etc (there's two more untitled mystery tracks later, too!). And that one seems like a joke I'd like to use for a song, ... Read More:

The Austin Powers movies did nothing for me. Actually, I only saw the first one and couldn't wait for it to be over. But this soundtrack is great!! It is sooo much fun to hear all these songs from the 60's and 70's again. It's a blast. I first heard it in an exercise class and everyone in the class wanted to know the title of the cd. Enjoy the fun!!
